There wasn't a single cloud in the sapphire sky above the emerald forest, a single path cut through the foliage. Walking down that path, however, was a single group. A group of five, but a group none the less. Various armors and weapons clanking about as they walked, some in silence, some talking amongst the others. They were a rag tag group regardless, the kind you wouldn't expect to see walking together. Eh, it was the weird things, however.

One of the members at the front of the group looked to be in his late twenties or so, and looked the most human of the group. He had brown hair and brown eyes, in addition to the armor that surrounded his torso. A small smile on his face as he was humming a littl ebit.

"On the road again, I can't wait to get on the road again..."

It wouldn't have been so bad if he hadn't been humming it for the past 2 hours.

An elf walked beside the man. He looked to be around his early hundreds, a young man by elf standards. He wore leather armor. Two swords hung from his belt, both curved, one longer than the other. His hands appeared to be glued to the back of his head. His long, brown hair stopped at his shoulders. He turned his green eyes to the human. "So, where are we going again?"

"Yes, quite a good question, to which the answer is civilization, I hope?"

Seigmund said this in his delicate, feminine tones, and over-embellished body language as if he were an actor on a stage. Seigmund was short and slight, by the very look of him you'd think you could break him in half. He had long, auburn, intensely cared for hair that reached to his shoulders, and rather pale skin. He was, however, most certainly not a woman.

Since departing with this group, his impression of them had entered a steady decline, and the incessant happy humming most certainly wasn't helping.

"And for that matter, why is it you are so eager to be on the road again, when you are, in fact, on a bloody road!"

"Why a tennis ball? Because my mother beat me savagely with a sack of oranges, thats why."

A cloaked individual lifted his dark gray hood off his head to reveal an ashen face with high cheekbones, bright red eyes, and snow white hair that hung over his forehead and fell over ears that were pointed at the tips. His name was Mortimer Shadestalker, and he was a Half-Drow in his forties, but his lifespan had been extended considerably by his Drow heritage and through his dealings with fiends. His black, spiked leather armour made no sound as he strode along the track.

"Ricen, if I were you, I would close your trap, before I use my Disable Device skill to seal it for you" said Mortimer.

A young, grey hobgoblin girl in a suit of chainmail and wearing knee-length leather boots was tagging along for the march. Beside the clink-clank of the chainmail, she didn't make a sound.

She had most of her hair cropped very short, except for a large mohawk dyed red, and a single, long-ish dreadlock hanging from the lower end of it. Igrim was not very talkative. She'd just joined that guild, and her opinion of her newfound teammates would be hard-pressed to plummet any further.

"What IS the plan exactly?", she said in a raspy voice. "Also, why didn't we just steal some horses?", she asked.

Mortimer turned to Igrim and said, "Some of the terrain is too difficult to traverse on horseback. Besides, we don't need to steal horses when I can use Beguiling Influence to make people give us the horses."

"You guys are no fun...' Ricen huffed a little bit and looked over his shoulder at his group members. "As for the plan, well, we have to hit a town eventually. Once there, we stock up on potions and what not, then we find an adventure of some sort. Seems simple enough, eh? We could stand for a little more XP each anyway..."

"I agree", Mortimer replied. "I need an extra level in Rogue for the skills."

"Not the brightest bulb in the box, are ya?", Igrim asked. "Rogue is always the FIRST level. 8+ INT modifier x4, instead of 8 + INT modifier", she groaned.

"You roll Warlock stats, but you put the first level in Rogue. How hard can it be?", she snarled.

"I'm gonna to stay pure and uncorrupted (single-classed, I mean) until I can grab Weapon Master", she said.

"This is my second level in Rogue" replied Mortimer. "I have 16 Intelligence. Did you really think I would be stupid enough not to take my first level in Rogue?"

Mortimer then proceeds to lightly blast Igrim with a small Eldritch wave for her insolence.

She shrugged off the Eldritch wave. For some reason, Warblades get D12 HP.

"Sorry. In my experience, most folks multiclass when they hit the 'Oh, Crap! we ain't got a rogue' point", she said.

Yes, I did know about the Rogue skill thing in the first place.

"I at the least want to try and avoid the whole stealing from the innocent thing..." He turned around and looked at his group. Hell, the only other person on the team who was Good ANYTHING, Lawful, Neutral or otherwise was Marin, and even then he was a little...hammy.

Realizing the previous sentence would lead to ridicule, he released a little sigh and looked up at the sky. "Or at the very least no murdering..."

"Innocents, you mean? As far as I'm concerned, everyone's pretty much guilty." (Beat) "Sentencing's the same: Loot or cheat the Hell out of them."

"Hmmm, well I suppose now that you mention it, there's a very good chance that we'll hear someone crying out for us rigth about...now."

And then, nothing happened. Looking around in confusion for a moment or two, he shrugged. "Huh, well, I suppose I was-"

"HELP! HELP!"

"Ah-ha! A rescue! How perfectly cliche, though I do love a good cliche. Perhaps we can rescue a roving band of permiscuous wine connisieurs?"

Seigmund's mind drifted to this image, of the dashing sorcerer arriving and kicking all different types of divine, arcane, and martial ass and wooing the wuvely wadies. Seigmund then realised that his party were several paces ahead of him and he proceeded after them, almost certainly missing out on initiative rolls for the first round.

"Why a tennis ball? Because my mother beat me savagely with a sack of oranges, thats why."
