Blind Guardian

1) Into the Storm | Nightfall in Middle-Earth
2) Bright Eyes | Imaginations from the Other Side
3) Wizard's Crown | Battalions of Fear
4) The Soulforged | A Night at the Opera
5) I'm Alive | Imaginations from the Other Side
6) Time Stands Still (At the Iron Hill) | Nightfall in Middle-Earth
7) Banish from Sanctuary | Follow the Blind
8) Valkyries | At the Edge of Time
9) The New Order | A Twist in the Myth
10) The Bard's Song (Into the Forest) | Somewhere Far Beyond

I have some trouble to get into some of their older albums, but I think I just have to listen them more often. Recently I really started to like Bright Eyes.

The Bard's Song makes a good finisher since it shows that they can also make good "non-Metal" songs and it makes a good end in general. Also, it's the song that got me into Blind Guardian (being the first one I ever heard of them).

@mellochan: Hell, yes.

Now, to another extremely arcane group from the JHM camp...

Ludus

  1. "Unveil" (The Visit EP, 1980)
  2. "I Can't Swim I Have Nightmares" (The Visit EP, 1980)
  3. "Mouthpiece" (Pickpocket cassette, 1981)
  4. "Unveiled (A Woman's Travelogue)" (The Seduction double 12", 1982)
  5. "The Escape Artist" (The Seduction double 12", 1982)
  6. "How High Does the Sky Go?" (Riding the Rag compilation, 1982)
  7. "Bloody Chamber" (Danger Came Smiling LP, 1982)
  8. "Bitch Party" (Danger Came Smiling LP, 1982)
  9. "Let Me Go Where My Pictures Go" (Completement Nue Au Soleil EP, 1984 [rec. 1982])
  10. "Breaking the Rules" (single b/w "Little Girls", 1983)

P.S. Were one interested in really messing with the head of the recipient, replace either of the last two (friendly pop Ludus) with another selected track from Danger Came Smiling (evil crazy Ludus) and/or the anthology track "Corpse Candle" (spooky jazzy Ludus).

Well of course I had to make one for the Talking Heads (by far my favorite rock band of all time) :

1 • Once in a Lifetime / Remain in Light
2 • Cities / Fear of Music
3 • Television Man / Little Creatures
4 • Pull Up the Roots / Speaking in Tongues
5 • Psycho Killer / 77
6 • Life During Wartime / Fear of Music
7 • City of Dreams / True Stories
8 • Seen and Not Seen / Remain in Light
9 • Girlfriend is Better / Speaking in Tongues
10 • Bill / Naked

It was hard not to fill the roster with the entire Remain in Light album... But at the same time making this I tried to take tracks from different eras and different albums. As I always love to do I almost never pick the big tracks or the ones that got into singles (with the notable exception being Once in a Lifetime here) not because they aren't good, but most of the time I feel there are other tracks on the albums which are just as interesting and much less known, and well it is a process of discovery after all.

So if you have never heard any of these tracks, I think you know what you have to do.

Well it is a great introduction... But then it wouldn't be 10 tracks anymore. Besides, I really do prefer "Stop Making Sense" (even if it doesn't contain nearly as much tracks from "Remain in Light" as "The Name of this Band is...")

I made this, but forgot to actually put it in the thread, so here:

Devo:

Mongoloid (Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo!, 1978)
Girl U Want (Freedom Of Choice, 1980)
Going Under (New Traditionalists, 1981)
Whip It (Freedom Of Choice, 1980)
Smart Patrol/Mr. DNA (Duty Now For The Future, 1979)
Jocko Homo (Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo!, 1978)
Don't Shoot (I'm A Man) (Something For Everybody, 2010)
That's Good (Oh No! It's Devo, 1982)
Gates of Steel (Freedom Of Choice, 1980)
It's A Beautiful World (New Traditionalists, 1981)

There's a bunch of stuff I also would have included ("Satisfaction" "Through Being Cool", "Jerkin' Back And Forth", etc), but I wanted to include something from every album other than the Canon Discontinuity ones.
