Limit suffering for yourself and those close to you. After that, help other people around you slowly. That is all I got.
I generally try to follow the approach Gandhi and Jesus Christ took — live a virtuous life and see to it that I bear the fragarance of virtue about me.
Doing good is a hard thing, and the things we do in our lives are mostly insignificant, though, it's important for us and others that we do these good, insignificant things.
In times of change, learners inherit the Earth and the learned find themselves perfectly equipped to deal with a world that no longer existsI agree with you. Happiness is secondary to the removal of suffering. But without it, life gets boring really fast.
Gnosticism is actually a very good philosophy
We must survive, all of us. The blood of a human for me, a cooked bird for you. Where is the difference?^^ I disagree. Give me joy and sadness both, and keep your stinky limbo ;)

But they seem to know where they are going, the ones who walk away from Omelas.Sadness is fine. Suffering is quite different from sadness, even if it's related.
I am sorry tongpu, but you are not a slave to your consciense, in fact, you do seem to give me a vibe of The Last Man arquetype, you are more like a slave to yourself.
I am not gonna go and say that anyone who does not try to care about the world other than themselves or their closest circle is evil, much less with the whole grayness that the world is in.
But anyone who is fully neutral, supporting not even himself, just going along, feeling depressed because that person does not want to even care about the world, not caring about the innocent, the opressed and the pariahs, is actually worse than an "Evil" person. At least the Complete Monster has a purpose in his life. Those persons have shown us what we must avoid to become. They have helped us, even if indirectly, in our personal growth. A neutral person? That person has no purpose, no insult can be put on him, because that would be giving him a purpose: That person, to me, is just a waste of space.
Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off the goal.
Cygan: Strawmann much? O.o
A guy called dvorak is tired. Tired of humanity not wanting to change to improve itself. Quite the sad tale.
