As to it selling 'well', the problem seems to be more that they seriously underestimated demand for it - having decided to get it now, I can't seem to find a copy anywhere. The guy in the store said that it didn't sell very much on launch day, but then suddenly took off over the next week, and now there are hardly any copies left in the country.

So this will be a game made popular by "word of mouth" then?

Just finished the game, clocked in at 140 hours and really short of getting 100% which I'll be doing later (basically I'm only missing like a third of the advanced art books and a few of the crazier achievements like defeating 5,000 enemies). Awesomeness all around, I honestly don't know if I like this game better than Skies Of Arcadia (my favorite rpg ever). I was really mad at how they relegated Melia to Hopeless Suitor status though.

I got annoyed by that as well. Granted, X was pretty sexy, but still! Think about poor Melia!

Oh, right this exists. I kind of forgot about this game after ragequitting on a very annoying boss, during what might have been the final dungeon. (about 80 hours in)

It's pretty good, but it really fails at properly grabbing my attention during endgame. That One Boss pretty much broke my interest.

I should probably just get a FAQ for that boss and get it done. It would be a shame to leave a good game unfinished. Also, I was very pissed at Fiora coming back. Apart from the fact that I ship Shulk and Melia, I just thought it was cheap.

[up] Good to hear you're also a Shulk/Melia shipper, Kayeka. I've expressed my thoughts about the whole love triangle in this Gamefaqs topic (beware of ending spoilers!), of which I'm the TC. Who's That One Boss you're talking about? Gadolt? I was so overleveled by doing quests before the endgame that I owned the final boss in about twenty seconds. sad

Go grind somewhere. Get the Monado Armor from a Fallen Hand quest. Get the Monado Eater from a Makna Forest quest. Your problems will be solved.

[up][up]nah, a bit later. Loritha, I believe her name was. You know, that one High Entia lady that was Obviously Evil from the start. I know that you should kill elemental shield minions before getting to her, but I just can't seem to get rid of them fast enough before she summons them again.

besides that, the main reason why I was pissed at Fiora coming back was that I liked how Shulk and Reyn were initially in this game for revenge, not because 'We must save the world because it is right to do so!' like most JRPG heroes do. It made their quest a bit more personal and gave their characters a bit of a dark side that could be exploited for great character development. When I saw Fiora coming back alive and mostly well (I am fairly sure they will figure out a way to restore her former body), it felt like everything lost it's meaning right there.

Also, Monado Armour is useful? That's news to me.

You're thinking of Shield. They have the same animation, just with a slightly different color. Monado Shield is the one you get from the Spider Boss in Tephra Cave. Monado Armor is a quest reward after getting the "friendship" with the Mechonis of the Fallen Arm. It increases physical and ether defense.

Go grind some level 65-70 enemies on the Gaur Plains. They're everywhere if you know where to look.

[up]No, I am very much thinking of Armour. Shield is perfect to keep my friends from dying to 5000+ damage attacks whenever I feel like it. Armour only protects for, what, 15 seconds? I actually need that meter for stuff that lasts longer or to quickly save my ass.

Monado eater is one I don't know about, though.

Hmm. Been a while since I played the Japanese game, but then again I never upgraded Shield because it was the Japanese game (didn't understand what it does and couldn't see any discernible difference when I upgraded it). Eater is a debuff that also does Bleed damage. Remember one of the giant doors just before you go to Valak Mountain? The quest for Eater requires unlocking that area. Useful against enemies that go into Rage mode.

Just grind. I beat that boss easily because I was overleveled.

Well, then just a little FYI: Shield usually doesn't do anything at all, unless you got a vision of an incoming attack. Once that happens, and you decide you don't like the damage it would cause, you simply use Shield to reduce the damage of that attack to 1.

It's quite useful knowing that, and the main reason why I don't spam my monado powers. I kind of like being able to say 'Denied' to any 5000+ damage attack that I see coming.

Remember: I'm the one who didn't know what Monado Enchant did until the Xord final battle. And after that I never cared because I just equipped my characters with anti-mechon weapons.

I figured it was more likely to be Lorithia, but to avoid possibly spoiling it to you I went with Gadolt. Use Melia as your main, you can get rid of the ether minions very quickly with her spells. You should've found the advanced Lightning art book in the High Entia Tomb, if you power that up to the maximum she becomes a killing machine. Plus, when you destroy all the minions, Lorithia herself gets a 50% debuff on defense and that when you maul her with a chain attack.

I got that far. Now the only problem that remains is the fact that my party members are a bunch of fucking morons that walk into the acid and never attempt to get out of it.

Yeah, that was kinda annoying for me too. Well, I was using Sharla and Reyn as partners for that battle I think, Sharla was never a problem because she keeps her distance from Lorithia, but for Reyn, I had to use the "fall back" command (RB + down arrow if you're using the classic controller) a few times to get him out of the acid.

So far it's only sold about 210, 000 copies. That really isn't that much.

First, where are your numbers coming from?

Second? THAT'S MINDBLOWING. That's putting it far higher than other titles Nintendo localized for the US.

It also jives well with the tales of complete sell-outs and small printings.
