Redirect farming at least.: Lex Luthor Security

I'm not going to propose a rename here because this has a surprisingly decent amount of inbounds and a ok number of wicks. But man this title sucks at the Guess The Trope game. Even though "security" provides context there's still an awful lot of things "Lex Luthor" could stand for, especially if you're only passingly familiar with the character.

Anyway, just casually throwing this out.

Swiss-Cheese Security?

I'd say swap the redirect and main. While Smallville Lex fits the trope perfectly, pretty much no other version of the character does. He's a character who, as a general rule, tends to be obsessive and paranoid about security, not the opposite.

There is a relative lack of wikis, just 65 (still healthy, I believe). However, 480 inbounds indicates me people in the other Internet likes the title.

Unless it is proven to be broken, I would vote against rename.

I created Your Door Was Open long ago and quickly had second thoughts because it's just about the same as Lex Luthor Security. Should we merge these?

It could work as a subtrope and justification of Lex Luthor Security.

We're not done here, we're in the middle of a debate.

It's a character named trope, for a character that's known for many things besides this trope, and for a character that in most of its incarnations is not even an example of this trope.

That's not good, and google shows this is (predictably) not an accepted term anywhere else on the internet. Let's swap with the redirect.

I think Lex Luthor Security and Your Door Was Open are distinguishable, though the descriptions need firming up a little to clarify the distinctions.

Your Door Was Open is mostly about sitcom-style stuff, where the characters are "among friends" and very well might just be leaving the doors open, because (especially in a "sitcom reality") there's no reason not to.

Lex Luthor Security is more about people who would NOT be expected to do this. Jerry lets Kramer come and go as he pleases, because they're friends, and Jerry presumably trusts the other people in his secure building enough that he's not worried about random other people breaking in and stealing stuff. Lex Luthor would hardly be so trusting of his neighbors, and has ample reason to think that there are many people out there who would like to gain entry to his home or office for some nefarious purpose.

Thats My Bush (listed as an example) would probably be one of the only clear examples of BOTH tropes.

So I'd say rename, but don't merge.

So, just a regular/standard trope transplant/rename? Then change the wicks and turn the current name into the new redirect?

There appears to be a suggestion to alter the descriptions of this and Your Door Was Open, as well.
