It is pretty annoying for a series to end shortly after it comes back.

Especially since ending as soon as the high school graduation comes seems kind of arbitrary.

Just making sure, but Chap 120 isnt the last chapter, right? There's still 1 or 2 chapters more?

I wonder if it's personal reasons or Arakawa trying to get the details of the ending right. Probably both.

Although, as I said before, the ending is going to lose a lot of impact for any of the people reading it months after the storyline its concluding.

It's likely a combination of both. Arakawa's likely had the end point of Hachiman's journey planned months ago, it's just that actually being able to put it into print gets difficult when real life hits you with one thing after another.
