Reminds me of that old joke:

Well if I were to guess, I'd think that he was accused of paedophilia and didn't like it very much. Whether or not he actually did it.

Maybe he's supposed to be (or thinks of himself as) the ultimate egalitarian; the only time it matters to him whether anyone is male or female is when he's looking for a sexual partner.
