Everybody played Tetris, mate. Just like PacMan.
Incidentally, I finished a playthrough of DK 64 last weekend. Only four bananas from 100%, all minigame barrels. Two of them I could probably do with patience, but the other two were Beaver Bother.
Do you highlight everything looking for secret messages?May you never take up Lemmings. That thing is designed to drive you batty.
Oh Lemmings the game that drives you to madness and causes you to murder your charges with glee.
Perhaps it was first psychological seed for dwarf fortress.

Who watches the watchmen?x3 Tangent, don't ever remind me of that minigame.
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.Continuing the subject of old-but-not-retro games, saw my 10-year-old sister starting up Super Mario Sunshine as I headed out the door to work. I've always liked the collect-thingies-hidden-in-worlds type of game, but am hard pressed to think of many non-Nintendo examples.
My own replaying efforts have shifted to Shadow The Hedgehog. A terrible game if you take it seriously, but a pretty entertaining game if you don't.
Do you highlight everything looking for secret messages? Can't believe Super Mario Sunshine would technically count as old now, I was about 11 when I got it for Christmas.
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.Regardless of whether or not the original Half-Life counts as retro yet, I tried activating the CD keys that my copy of the Platinum Collection came with on Steam. Half-Life's key was already used, but the one for Counter-Strike worked like a charm; so not only did all the Platinum Collection games get added to my Steam library, I also got Deathmatch Classic and Day of Defeat. Not bad for a collection I got for a buck from my local thrift store, eh?
I wonder if the old game Myth: The Fallen Lords and Myth 2: Soublighter get any love here?
Such forgotten games, but perhaps the older gamers here will remember titles that were game of the year at some point ;)
'It's gonna rain!'Remember them being around: didn't get to play them, though. My main PC-use about that time wasn't a gaming rig... and linked to other people who could pull my plug if I installed it.
It is interesting to see how video games could have developed, but didn't.
The first X-COM game was one of my favorites as a teenager; I still like it, and I'm gratified that it found its way into the top 100 video games of all time.
I can agree with a lot of what this guy has to say.
If I were to write some of the strange things that come under my eyes they would not be believed. ~Cora M. Strayer~Ok, so I have an ouya now and would LOVE to play more pokemon. I want a pokemon that's newer than emerald. Any cobbies have a recommendation for which one I should do? Platinum? White? How do I pokeymanz?
DoodlesPlatinum, Black/White, and Black/White 2 are all pretty good; since BW 2 are actually direct sequels, you'll want to play Black or White before them.
So, start with Platinum if you want to to experience as many regions as possible (Sinnoh is pretty); else, perhaps skip to Black or White, since they probably have the best story and are also the start of a trend in cutting down on the Level Grinding.
Do you highlight everything looking for secret messages?K, starting white since I am a bit too old for Level grinding. Thanks for the tip!
Doodles>:( SO aggravating when you put in three hours on a game and lose it because you forgot to save. On the plus side, i can redo all of what i did in probably half an hour. STILL FRUSTRATING.
DoodlesYeah old school games are pretty harsh without auto-saves sometimes.
Who watches the watchmen?Hmm. On the subject of old-school fun, anyone else here heard of (or play) the Steel Panthers series? Wargames Airland and Red Dragon are soaking up my attention, but there's still something about hexgrids, turn-based combat, and armor values measured in centimeters of RHA-e.
Charlie Stross's cheerful, optimistic predictions for 2017, part one of three.I had the WWII one for free off of a gaming magazine on my first computer. Great game.
My buddy and I abused the custom vehicle option once. We took conventional land vehicles and gave them outlandish modifications. We still chuckle about it.
Who watches the watchmen?Of course, of course. I've done a couple of Mobhack edits myself, but that's more for balance than fun abuse. (I wanted to introduced the Ontos flechette canister version.)
Charlie Stross's cheerful, optimistic predictions for 2017, part one of three.Yeah but did you ever put BB guns on a tank? Or turn a half track into a rolling inferno generator from Extra incendiary weapons? When it died it left a huge flaming crater. My friend called it the flaming bitch of death.
Who watches the watchmen?Tonight in SPMBT: modern-day Cuba takes on modern-day North Korea. Visibility, ten hexes (500m—low-light battle).
Kim versus Castro, 5250 points. We will settle once and for all the question of who the best bunch of 1970s reenactors are!
EDIT: and I promptly discover that Cuba has this thing. Yes, that's a T-55 turret grafted to a BTR-60 hull. What.

Charlie Stross's cheerful, optimistic predictions for 2017, part one of three. It turns out Cabelas can actually make a hunting game that looks like it might be entertaining. One youtube lets play guy Kootra, referred to it as Sniper Elite with deer. From what I have seen that is an apt description. This is of course minus the overt levels of gore of the sniper elite game but still has a nifty X-Ray type mechanic.
It actually rewards you for practicing ethical hunting and punishing you for sloppy shooting and taking female animals for deer, moose, and elk. Any gender of Hog and bear is acceptable.

My money's on El Commandante.
Schild und Schwert der ParteiI'm commanding the Cuban forces with a few years of SPMBT experience and the AI's not too smart, so, sucker bet. :P
Orbat for 7250 points (I bumped up the point value somewhat): a motorbike recon company backed up by a platoon of thermal imaging-equipped BRDM-2s to find the enemy, a company of T-72s as my striking force, two motor-rifle companies riding in BTR-152s as my main infantry force, reinforced with a two-gun T-12 100mm antitank platoon apiece. (Long-range ATGMs? You mean the Malyutkas that have a 500m minimum range? Yeah, so, about those visibility settings...)
And, because I can, my reserve is a company of airborne infantry riding on T-62s. They're still technically desantniki, y'see. Round out with Hind gunships, aircraft, mortars and more mortars, and a Grad platoon, and I think I can take on anything the Norks can throw at me. The Cult of the Eternal Leader shall fall beneath the might of the Beard!

Donkey Kong 64 My mom was a psuedo gamer in the days of NES and N64. She played tetris, the contra games, another game I can't remember. She loved the Donkey Kong Series on N64.
