I'm not happy with the name, but I can't think of any actually descriptive name.
Fight smart, not fair.No defenses so far...?
Or perhaps everyone's stumped as to an alternate name... I know I sure don't have any ideas so far...
Menacing Setup Mundane Payoff? Not the best, but it's something.

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.I don't really have a problem with the name.
Rhymes with "Protracted."Maybe tweak it. I Was Just Stabbing The Salad, as "I was just (insert mundane task)" is often said with this.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.I should note that perhaps one of the major reasons I was confused by the name is that I had forgotten (or never knew of) the existence of Stab the Scorpion. Is that a point against the current name?
(This assumes that it's a snowclone in the first place. It's just my best guess. I just don't know. :))
It doesn't help that the page quote seems to be a joke about The Coconut Effect, rather than having anything to do with the trope.
There is now a single proposition rename crowner for this trope here.
This title has brought 83 people to the wiki from non-search engine links since 20th FEB '09.
This seems about deadlocked. Does anyone else want to weigh in or should I lock this?
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. Dicklock it. It's deadlocked.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Yeah, I forgot about this; I missed it when it was last bumped.
I'm just surprised so many people like it, and I still don't know why (or why it makes sense; I think it's the connection to Stab the Scorpion, but even that makes me sort of ehhhh).
Crown Description:
Vote up for yes, down for no.
I Thought It Meant when a character stabs at a salad with a fork to either show he's not hungry or that he's so angry/distracted he doesn't want to eat.
Neither wicks nor inbounds are higher than 50. I'm open to the idea that this somewhat unintuitive snowclone (of Stab the Scorpion) is fine, but I'd like to be convinced first.
