the good guys side I see
Raiden, Cage, Sonya, Fujin, Kai, Bo'rai'cho, Kenshi and maybe Ermac and Cyrax
for outworld we have Goro, Milleena ( as she was not killed by Kitana like in the first timeline she won't join Shinnok) Baraka, Sheeva, Kano who may or may not side with any one of the 3 forces, Kintaro and Sektor
and the Neatherealm Shinnok, Quan Chi, Scorpion, Noob Saibot, Reiko, Tanya and Reptile who will side with them now that his masters are dead like he did in 4 and all the dead people
Outworld will be difficlut to place in the good or bad guy's place it all depends on its leaders
If Milleena becomes ruler then she won't side with the good guy's but she may or may not side with Shinnok. If the other kontender for ruler of Outworld Goro becomes ruler then I can see Outworld siding with Earthrelm or remaining neutral. But if Goro becomes ruler their is a good chance that Milleena will side with Shinnok and take Baraka with her

Heh, Quan Chi and Tanya should be Team Themselves if their past characterization is any proof of what they'll be doing in the next game.
Also why is Reiko on Team Netherrealm? He's an Outworld General.

Reiko joined the neatherealm as a general in Mk 4 why I don't know maybe Kahn killed him for looking at his helmut too many times
Tanya was a spy for the neatherealm and Quan Chi is the 2nd in command of the neatherealm who plans on betraying everybody

I know about Tanya and Quan Chi. That's why i said they are on their own side because if everything is the same, Shinnok doesn't have the real Amulet and Tanya will try to betray someone.
Honestly, Shinnok with his real Amulet is pretty much unbeatable. Raiden had to call in the Elder Gods just to fight off Kahn. I don't know what could defeat Shinnok in this new timeline.
To the guy who couldn't beat Shao Kahn:
1. Set the difficulty to beginner. No, don't complain, you want to beat him some time this century, so make him as easy as possible.
2. Dont try to fight him. Play keep away til he taunts. Duck his spears.
3. When he taunts, dash over or teleport and either uppercut him or do a short combo. Shao Kahn has about 3 times as much health as any other fighter, so it's normal to do fuck all damage to him. Just make sure you knock him down.
4. Jump away and repeat til he dies.
5. You might also try projectile spam with Kitana or Sektor. They rape his life pretty quick.
6. Or pick Noob Saibot and spam teleport grab when he taunts.
No, it's not interesting or fun, but Shao Kahn is OP as fuck. Fighting him normally will get you killed. If you're still having trouble, let him win a few times. The game will take pity on you and make him taunt near constantly.

Can't think of anything witty, so have this instead...Reminds me of how I played MK 2 as a kid. Kintaro beat me more times than I can remember.
Then i beat him. At last, victory!
...only to get annihilated by Shao Kahn.
And I never finished the game.
Tch, MK 3's Motaro and Kahn were a piece of ckae by comparison.

Same here, only with MK Trilogy, and I could only get to Kahn with Kintaro. Never beat him. That incarnation of Kahn is ludicrously OP.
Wait, I just remembered I vowed to punch Ed Boon in the face for making Kahn unbeatable. Meh, I guess I can let it slide since he's only moderately unbeatable in MK 9.
Can't think of anything witty, so have this instead...As ridiculously hard as Shao Kahn was, it was all worth it just to hear his Big "NO!" at the end.
@ Comma: We're working on the assumption that they're going to remain dead into the next game. Until they get ressurrected though, Raiden needs to call in the B team.
And I've still yet to play this game.
I can at least say, from what I saw Cage is epic.
I'm quite confident in my shitposting you knowOkay, still watching Story Mode, and something definitely changed. When Sonya goes down to Goro's Lair to rescue Jax, after she beats Sub-Zero, Raiden gets a vision and interferes when she tries to challenge Shang Tsung. Here's the thing, neither of the outcomes of that fight could have happened in the old timeline. Shang Tsung can't have won, because he would have killed Sonya, which didn't happen in the original timeline until Deadly Alliance. And Sonya can't have won, because I'm pretty sure beating Shang Tsung would have ended the tournament.
So either Shang Tsung won in the original timeline but for some reason chose not to kill Sonya, it was a draw (not likely), or it never happened in the first place and the timeline is changing on its own.
I think that Raiden, Cage, and Sonya will be putting together a new group of Earthrealm warriors, like everyone else has been saying. Kenshi, Bo Rai Cho, and some of the other Ensemble Darkhorses from games after MK 3. Also, some original characters should come in.
Quan Chi and Shinnok will launch their plan, and Scorpion would probably still be serving Quan Chi, along with the killed heroes. He'll somehow learn that Quan Chi is responsible for his clan's death, and go fucking crazy trying to get revenge. The heroes trying to stop Shinnok will allow Scorpion to join them, and he could find a way to release them from Quan Chi's service.
Mileena will probably be ruler of Outworld. For some reason, I think Shang Tsung could have hid a piece of his soul in one of Ermac's souls, and come back that way. Once the possessed Ermac is defeated, the heroes could find a way to give Ermac a free will of his own, and he would join them. Cyrax might be reprogrammed like Subby was.
You guys like Let's Plays? You guys like shameless plugs? Well, come on down!I bet ten bucks that Quan Chi has a clone of Shao Kahn somewhere. If they can do it with M Bison, they can do it with Shao Kahn...
A good writer puts in a lot of details in there story. But a great one gets a story from a single detail.Yeah, you just know Kahn isn't staying down. He is the series primary antagonist after all.
I think we're all making too many assumptions based on the old timeline, which is screwed at this point. Netherrealm seem to be trying their damndest to subvert our expectations. So I dont think its safe to call things like Ermac turning good, or Cyrax getting reprogrammed. Hell maybe it'll be Sektor who gets the reprograming. Then everyone will find out he was still an evil dick when he was human.
Good theory on Shang Tsung coming back through Ermac BTW.
Can't think of anything witty, so have this instead...So is there a possibility that Raiden could die in the next game. A sort of Redemption Equals Death for his screw-ups in this game. Like he sacrifices himself to revive the others.
After what happened, I can see him losing faith in himself and thinking Earth-Realm might actually be better off without him. Plus it would eliminate the possibility of Dark Raiden (who is admittedly pretty unlikely, but still possible).

One Strip! One Strip!Superman attack straight through Shinnok!
Curse the ill fortune that led you to me.I can see Raiden turning emo again. Just another thing that could go wrong for the heroes.
Can't think of anything witty, so have this instead...Maybe kill himself on Onaga again, but do some real damage?
Curse the ill fortune that led you to me.Nah, Just die fighting the Netherrealm hordes or somthing and have his own guilt and lack of faith turn him into Dark Raiden again.
Can't think of anything witty, so have this instead...Eh, I don't get the feeling a thunder god would fall to Mooks.
Curse the ill fortune that led you to me.then have Shinnok kill him
Have Shinnok fish him off.
The two had an epic war thousands of years ago and with the Elder Gods unable to come to his aid this time, Shinnok can finally pwn his inferior deity.
Of course Raiden will go out valiantly.
we had the same idea it looks like
Well no, if he was going to come back emo, he'd need to have a death that strips him of all hope and leaves him broken and angst ridden.
Like this:
Raiden fights an inexhaustable number of Netherrealm mooks who wear him down enough for the dead Earthrealm fighters to overpower him. They give him a severe ass kicking, then Liu Kang's enraged spirit steps forward to punch a hole through him while the others restrain him. Then Quan Chi comes over as he is dying and gives him an epic "Reason You Suck" Speech, and the last things he sees are Liu Kang's hate filled eyes while Quan Chi laughs.
Instant emo Raiden from the most cynical bastard in the world (me).

Can't think of anything witty, so have this instead...
So we're speculating with the assumption that all dead characters will remain dead?
