From all accounts, the SMART system works almost flawlessly.
Was Jack Mackerel. | i rite gudI have the game on PC, and I still haven't been able to play this game, at least not without huge framerate drops.
When I'm facing the floor, walls, etc. it runs at normal framerates, but as soon as I turn to an area with lots of geometry (read: anywhere else), my performance drops drastically and renders the game unplayable.
It's not a problem with my computer's specs, which should be able to run this game according to the recommended settings - it's a problem with ATI graphics cards, which unfortunately my laptop has. None of the fixes posted on the Steam or Splash Damage forums have helped. Until SD releases some kind of patch, I just can't play this game.
Which is unfortunate, because everywhere I've been reading everyone's been trashing the game. I need to form my own damn opinion!
I'm not having those problems.
And the bots are no problems with me.
I do have a high end graphic card, tho.
Jonah FalconI'm having some problems too, thought not much with actual gameplay.
Whenever I play a campaign level, there's this weird bluish tint covering everything that's not part of the HUD. I'm thinking this might be some variation of the glitch many people where they can'tsee anything except menus, but I could be wrong.
Also, sometimes, when the visuals aren't blue tinted, the textures don't look their best.
As for gameplay, my only real complaint is that characters die too easily, though I am playing on Easy right now.
Oh, and yes, the parkour is great.
I put on my robe and tinfoil hat...Easy, yes, they die quickly. Playing on harder levels...
By the way, the AI is good enough to recognize tactics. I've seen it flank me from the sides or sometimes sneak in from behind.
Jonah FalconApparently Brink hates ATI cards.
I'm loving the gameplay, but a friend and I kept on trying to set up a co-op game and after ten tries neither of us could connect to our respective servers. We just decided to join public games, but still.
"Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person that doesn't get it."I'm on the PS 3 so I've been playing with bots. I admit, at first I thought this was the hardest shooter I've ever played. I played the challenges enough to get some attachments, and I thought the game was impossible.
After a while, I changed my mind. Now I consider this game the best shooter I own on the PS 3. I love this game.
im having an issue with the parkour...specifically, its very very hard to climb ontop of something, say, a box, instead of just vaulting over it.
aside from that the game plays fine, its fun, and it looks good. the first campaign mission dragged on a bit tho.
You have to hold jump to climb on something. Or jump then hold jump to climb on a tall box.
I've actually started Wall Jumping, too.
Played my first multiplayer game, and I don't know where people are having problems. Had some lag at times, but nothing I haven't had with other games.

Jonah FalconOne thing I definitely don't like, though minor, is the fact that the sprint button and SMART button are one and the same. I mean, it makes the parkour a little easier, but wasn't it supposed to be possible without the SMART button anyway?
On a unrelated note, it seems this game already has a sizable Hatedom.
I put on my robe and tinfoil hat...The Hatedom is probably just people that are dissapointted that this huge genre-defying new idea fest isn't the perfect game they hoped it would be. Honestly i was looking forward to this game a long time ago, but then i learned there was no single-player campaign, no female avatars, no huge variety of maps, no... Single player campaign...
Bleye knows Sabers.what? yes there is
single player campaign i mean
no im not talking about jumping from one ledge to another, im talking getting on a slightly higher...thing from what you're standing on, and instead of just getting on, you vault over it and off. also happens when you're jumping from one ledge to another tho, where you catch on, only to get up and instantly fall off cause you're inexplicably vaulting over it.

I don't really consider "It's just like the online game... Only with BOTS!" a single player campaign. I was essentially hoping it would be Borderlands 2.0 really.
I still want to play it though. I won't make judgements until i do.

Bleye knows Sabers.Okay, fixed the co-op connection issues. Needed to open a few ports.
So I did all of the two star challenges. The leaderboard stuff is practically useless, so I won't bother. That new SMG is so awesome.
Also, I never ever want to play another shooter again without SMART. Seriously.
"Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person that doesn't get it."I'm getting this for sure, but I think I'll wait til PSN is back up.
Underneath the bridge The tarp has sprung a leak And the animals I've trapped have all become my petsThigh high obstacles, begone!
Jonah FalconStill playing. Still seeing NONE of the complaints.
Jonah FalconYeah, I'm not exactly seeing what's so bad about this.
Aside from the multiplayer infrastructure issues, I'm completely confused by other peoples' complaints too.
"Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person that doesn't get it."I haven't seen any MP problems, really.
Jonah FalconWell, the problem specifically was with co-op. In order for us to play the campaign, we had to go into our router software and open ports 27015, 27016, and 8766 (or something like that.).
Also, the main menu is pretty unintuitive.
"Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person that doesn't get it."By the way, is there anyone here with Brink on steam? Maybe have a troper shootout in Brink?
My steam account name (the one used to add dudes to friends list) is doomtrooper88 (minus the stupid tvtropes space). Display name is Strangerous-San [FFN]
"Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person that doesn't get it."I have Steam. Am JonahFalcon.

Jonah Falcon
Sounds like one of those games where the bugs really drag it down but with some patches it can shine.
