That's actually pretty funny.

Whether it be intentionally or unintentionally so.

Fact is, people are shallow, some people aren't blessed with good looks, or a full set of teeth. Maybe we wouldn't resort to Ad Hominem if they didn't resort to things like threatening to slice open peoples stomachs. Check Liz's blog, she did say that.

The problem with a lot of the haters of BS is that many people agree that if you got to know us and found out how laid back we are you'd realize that we aren't on a crusade to shut down reviewtopia, tgwtg, or screwattack. Seeing as their fans like the overexaggerate and make people on TGWTG and Reviewtopia out to be "saviors of the internet" because I guess they think it's "epic" or whatever they call it. And then the reviewers get inflated egos, particularly the ones that think they can be internet reviewers for a living.

Speaking of Liz, what's with the constant "she looks like a man" jokes? It doesn't exactly paint you guys in a nice light.

Oh yes of course, but "she started it" isn't the point I'm going for is that she threatened to murder Linkara's fans and they thought nothing of it.

[up]Constant? Okay okay I have some explaining to do. I had that saved as a draft, then I realized we'd look like asses if I posted that. Mike posted it anyways. However, I'm going to make the most of it and repost a 'revised' edition where I replace Iron Liz with Irate Gamer and maybe Crane with a wrestler who looks like Bores. You know, cuz Bored and WWE/TNA are what you folks here call "Acceptable Targets".

However, like I said, she threatened to murder people who didn't like her, gets offended by a very light hearted gay joke spoony made and walked out on a Dn D campaign because Joe made a boob joke. And I personally think she's just using Linkara to make a name for herself.

Maybe we wouldn't resort to Ad Hominem...

If you're resorting to ad hominem in the first place, you obviously have a problem. Ad hominem is a crutch, and an easily breakable crutch at that.

Using ad hominem and getting called for it is equivalent to using a strawman and getting called for it; the rest of your argument certainly isn't null and void, but you look like an incompetent jackass. There is never a reason to use ad hominem.

Remember, insulting your opponent is not ad hominem. Insulting your opponent in place of actually countering points or insulting your opponent as a point is ad hominem. Learn the difference.

Of course, none of this has to do with Busy Street in the first place. I just enjoy being an asshole.

Oh wait hold on, I'm already a part of one. Thebusystreet.com

Still, it's too bad you guys don't point out that we have other articles and that Jordan and I both enjoy writing our weird articles (like Stu's Summer Vacation) over our typical asshole articles. Well, that and he likes doing Mix Tapes as well.

RE: Liz: So, she's quite thin-skinned. Although that might have developed because she is cursed with rather masculine features, and a boyfriend who somehow has attracted a lot of insane fangirls. Plus there was apparently an incident during the Dn D campaign where the chat feed got sick of her puns and started making unsavory suggestions to stop the tide of puns. Needless to say, it ended in banhammers all around.

But still, threatened disemboweling? Over negative comments? THAT is a textbook overreaction.

[up] It makes me sad that any of the girlfriends could get hated by creepy fangirls. We at the fanfic fandom adore them. (Or that could be a case of most of us being bisexual.)

And that had nothing to do with the topic at hand, so oops.

[up]Ironic because I'm sure the people who have fanfics written about them probably are (rightfully) creeped out about it.

You have to admit, it does reach extremely creepy territories when you start writing fanfics about real people.

Children, do you want me to pull over? Because I will.

Regards to Iron Liz, I often prefer not to make fun of someone, be they fat, or overly-masculine, and if Mr. Lovhaug is happy with her, I'm not complaining. That said, if what Gerpy claims is true, she has even worse relations with fans then Spoony. And considering she's Lewis' girlfriend, almost comes out as a Clingy Jealous Girl

As for the Mixtapes issue, I suppose I can add them to the intro transcription, along with the whole Stu Levy letters. If I make a mistake with the description, let me know.

Anyways, Gerpy has raised a fairly good point to discuss, one I've been thinking of bringing up for some time but have just been too lazy: Why is it that guys like Chris Bores, Game Dude, and NC-17 are alright to be criticized as being AVGN-knock offs, yet when someone criticizes Spoony or Angry Joe about it, said person gets labeled as a troll, or what not.

In a nutshell: Why is IG such an Acceptable Target, and yet TGWTG tends to be immune to criticism by its fanbase? And it can't be because "IG is less funnier", because that's a subjective opinion. Thoughts?

And one more thing, for those who do visit BS, have you ever read any of its non-TGWTG related articles by any chance?

[up][up]Yes, it is kinda creepy.

[up]Again, it depends of what fans are you talking about, because TGWTG can and has been criticized over here a lot. I guess people like the Irate Gamer are easier, or if you will, acceptable targets, because the quality of his work -I'm gonna focus the example on him since I have actually since his videos- is not particularly good. Personally I don't think is one of the most horrible things ever done to internet as some would put it, but I do find his videos dull and unfunny. But that can be said about many TGWTG contributors as well.

Okay I have question, the whole going to Spoony's hometown and ask people about him, did that actually happen or it just some urban myth? Because I think that was discussed earlier in this thread, or maybe it was some other thread, I don't quite remember.

Well, I think Asa does live in the same town as Noah, so at least it wasn't like he actually traveled 500 miles to Mesa just so he could prove a point about the myth of internet popularity.

"Maybe we wouldn't resort to Ad Hominem if they didn't resort to things like threatening to slice open peoples stomachs. Check Liz's blog, she did say that. "

I cannot follow this trainwreck of a thread at all, but I saw this mentioned and just went to confirm this.

She did say it. She's also pretty obviously being tongue-in-cheek. So I don't really consider this a valid avenue of criticism.

As for the fanfic, judging by what's been said on Twitter, most of the contributors seem fairly amused by it rather than creeped out.

Gerpy doll, they love the fic. Nella's done an actual fill with her and Scarlett, Lindsay, Iron Liz and Roses mostly enjoy the slash stuff, Doug's favorited fanart of the Critic crying and is all like "why should I get freaked out about what people write?", Todd's gleeing about being in an OT3 and there was even a big livestream where they read the kink meme, claimed a lot of it hot and even requested stuff on their own. grin

Regarding Liz, if she'd really meant that threat, don't you think she would have been called out a lot sooner? Like Busy Street saying the trolls are only a vocal minority, same goes for the blind sycophants in the TGWTG fandom.
