I'd like a Rush 3 myself. But the problem is that Sega is making Dimps do watered-down versions of console games instead of doing their own thing like they should.

Speaking of which, why on earth did they stick to Rush style gameplay for the Modern Sonic levels in 3DS version of Generations? The 3DS is about as powerful as the Wii, right? Surely it should be able to handle your standard gameplay for Modern Sonic then.

[up]Tell that to Dimps.

Actually, tell that to whoever gave Dimps only 8 months to work on the game.

The 3DS version is still quite playable :D

I just kinda wish they paid more dues to the Game Gear Sonic titles ._.

I really, really wish Dimps would quit making Sonic games. There are so many, many other companies so much more qualified to make them, like, say, Way Forward. Dimps, on the other hand, just feels like they're just in it for the paycheck, really. The 3DS version's lack of effort is especially obvious, given how awesome the console versions of Generations ended up being.

[up][up] I honestly think that they did a fantastic job with the original Rush. As for Generations, there's only so much you can do when you're more than likely rebuilding a game from scratch in 8 months. I can't speak up for Rush Adventure because I can't remember much of anything about it.

You know what'd be cool for Sonic Rush 3? If they diversified Sonic and Blaze more. Like, Sonic can Homing Attack baddies to cross gaps and can Air Boost and Light Dash while Blaze can break through certain obstacles, hover, and can shoot fireballs and multiple targets at once *

. As for bosses, Sonic could fight them just like he normally does while Blaze could turn certain bosses into a sort of on rail shooter like Touhou (but nowhere near as hard). She could quickly shoot regular, fast moving fireballs for minimum damage or she could charge it for a larger, slower moving one that requires more skill to hit with but can blast through baddies or light defenses and keep going.

Maybe they could even have it to where, after a certain point in the story, you could freely switch between playing as Sonic or Blaze mid-level. Wouldn't that be awesome?

Hey, the GG wasn't perfect, but it produced some great levels and music. Take this 16 bit version for instance.

I loved the GG games save Tails' Sky Patrol. Only game I couldn't get into.

Anyway, Dimps is a pretty good developer, imo. I didn't super like the Advance Trilogy, but they were very solid games. Rush 1 was a little hard, but still well made, same with Rush Adventure. Sonic Battle was also a very fun game~

Dimps' sonic games were good until they started doing inferior ports of console games. Then their quality went down quite quite a bit.

Not sure if I want a western developer doing a sonic game though. Not sure if they can get that speed right.

I actually enjoyed Skypatrol, and yes, dare I say it, Labyrinth.

It would have been nice to see something like Gigapolis, Mecha Green Hill, Sunset Park, or even Robotnik Winter get the Generations treatment.

[up][up] Eh, never liked the Rush series much, but it sounds like you put a good bit of thought into it.

Advance 1 was great, and until Colors came out, I would have said it was the closest thing there was to a (non-awful) Sonic 4. I didn't like Advance 2 much, but Advance 3 was pretty decent. Except for all the times it'd let you run for a while, and then you'd hit a wall. With a platform that, 9 times out of 10, would fall onto you and crush you. The tag thing was a lot of fun to break the game with, though.

[up]Fix those arrows.

Also, I liked Advance 2 the best out of all them. Out of all the Sonic handhelds released to date, honestly. Advance 1 was fine, but it seemed a bit wonky, unbalanced, and not at all speedy enough at times. 2 improved greatly on the sense of speed the series gives you. 3's gimmick of partners didn't seem to add much to the game, aside from a few okay secrets and potentially game-breaking combinations (here's an experiment: play as Tails and Amy, and see how easily you can fly right over NEARLY EVERY ACT), and it seemed a bit more platforming-heavy than the others. Not a bad thing, but it sacrificed 2's amazing sense of speed for that. I will say that it's at least easier to get the Chaos Emeralds (or even just simply get to the special stages...that is one aspect in which 2 is abysmal). I do really like 3 a lot, but I just enjoy blasting through 2 so much more.

True, though 1 had the best ost while the other two were OK aside from Music Plant which is just awesome.

I just wonder why Dimps' games never include Super Sonic in normal gameplay; I don't think it would take much effort on their part to do that.

Eh, I never liked Advance 2. It's just that 50% of the game just involves running forward and jumping a few times, while the other half involves running forward and falling again and again into one of the bottomless pits that have started showing up like Robotnik built a base over a frickin' black void. Also, Cream.

To make up for all the negativity, I've got a question: Have you played many Sonic fangames, and if so, which ones did you like the most? I've got a couple I could mention, with my favorite being Sonic Classic:

It used to be pretty glitchy before a few patches, and there are some questionable design decisions (like having two water levels), but I had a lot of fun with this one. There's a lot of extra modes and unlockable content, and it also has Nack, which is always a dealwinner in my book.

There's also Sonic XG, which would be what a less... er... unique Sonic game would probably look like on the 32X. It's been in Development Hell for quite a while now, though, sadly. There is a very nice demo out there, though.

Yeah, the Genesis remix of Leaf Forest actually makes me like that version. Though the Beta's still better.

[up][up]When it comes to fangames, as well as full on hacks that completely change the game, I've played Sonic Before the Sequel (fangame) and S Factor: Sonia and Silver. Both are pretty good.

S Factor has some pretty good music, like this:

The version of the Bt S I played used pre-existing music, like a track from Kirby SS's Great Cave Offensive. But I know they're making an original soundtrack for Bt S, and it sounds EXCELLENT.

One thing I wondered for S Factor though was that I know that Sonia and Silver are good guys, but what was Scourge's motives?
