What I don't get is why they're celebrating Sonic 26th anniversary and not his 25th. Sonic came out in 1991 so last year would have been his anniversary.
The development of both Mania and Forces wasn't complete.

Where there's life, there's hope.Everything currently wrong with Forces won't be fixed with a delay. They've had four years to develop and polish this game, if they can't even do that in the time they've had, then that speaks about them as developers more than anything else.
The truth about Forces is that everything wrong is just inherent in it's design. They would have to make an entirely different game to address the issues.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Which are what exactly? Because we can't really tell what most of the issues are (Classic Sonic aside,) until we've played the damn game, have we?

Doctor Who — Long Way Around: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13536044/1/Doctor-Who-Long-Way-AroundOh my god I cant stop laughing
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeThat anecdote doesn't surprise me at all. Wouldn't be surprised if that same attitude was what forced them to get out of the hardware business in the first place.
previews exist for a reason you know. Most issues range from level design to how the characters control.
I bet you're gonna tell me "Its just the first level" though right?
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Nah, you can blame meddling Sega of America/Japan executives, Sega of America president during the Saturn era who wouldn't allow most 2d games to come in and insisted westerners would only want sports games which severely limited localization of the many great RPG titles on the console not to mention Sega focusing their games on their home market rather than the western crowd which bought most of their games, the BS from Sony hyping their PS 2 a year before it was even ready which convinced people to drop the Dreamcast early even though it's by far the most powerful console of that generation, and the ballooning budgets of Shenmu 1/2 which adjusting for inflation still make them some of the most expensive games of all time. A lot of things went wrong, but there's no one clear thing that did the Dreamcast in. Just a lot of bad judgement calls and a domino effect of small mistakes.
"No will to break."Just went through most of the City Escape challenges in Generations back-to-back, and I wish I hadn't because now that song is going to be stuck in my head all day.
I feel any problem with this game is due moreso to execution than concept, save for maybe classic sonic who frankly has no business being in. But if it ends bad then yeah the talent at Sonic team is sorely lacking.
The other part in that anecdote that gets me laughing is Naka slamming his fist on the table like an angry child. "This is ridiculous. You have made them say this. Sega is the great brand, nobody would ever say this, you have falsified!'"
-naka slams hand on table- is going to be my envision of SEGA's reactions to critic scores of Forces if it ends up bad.

To say it bluntly, Sonic Forces would be more interesting if they never had Classic Sonic and instead had OC pick between siding with the Resistance (and following Sonic) and joining Eggman's empire (and following Shadow). Sort of Sonic Adventure 2 and Shadow the Hedgehog combined. Especially since this game's Eggman is obviously taking notes from his Western counterparts and the Archie Comics had Eggman using more non-Roboticized animal men as henchmen later on.
Actually, thinking about it shouldn't Eggman have non-robot animal grunts in Sonic Forces? He does rule most of the world.

Why is everyone saying Eggman's taking elements from his Western counterparts?
Especially since it's being written in Japan (for the first main title since Unleashed).
Yeah, that doesn't really sound like it was directly inspired...

I do writing, feel free to check out my stories here! https://numbugwritingblog.tumblr.com/post/686233243868102656/numbugs-shared-heroic-uniIrony abounds, but from what we know so far his actions had involved.
- success: Eggman was portrayed as a semi competent villain at his best, having some sort of Near-Villain Victory but something going wrong somehow. Usually with either a betrayal from a third party (Shadow, Chaos, maybe Dark Gaia, even his own minions as of Mania) or Sonic just flat out beating whatever machine he uses. Him managing to Take Over the World, and the use of this idea as backstory, was only seen in the 90s cartoons adaptations and both comic adaptations AFAIK (and Sat AM/Archie was a notable case of it).
- Apparently the extent of his successes, specifically taking over 99% of the planet was also from adaptations as well.
That's about it, unless you want to go into where the archetype of Orbot and Cubot came from, and think it counts despite originating in Colors.

"Why is everyone saying Eggman's taking elements from his Western counterparts?"
He's being shown to be more of an Evil Overlord conquerer than in past games. Eggman's Western versions had him already conquer a major chunk of Mobius/Earth/Whatever before the story really begins.

While that could have been more interesting (though I question why the OC would team up with Eggman given Eggman wants all animals powering his machines), it sounds like we're using Classic Sonic as a scapegoat for why this game will be bad in reaction to people saying "this game will bad because reasons" now.
Generations was a solid game and one of Sonic's best in years despite splitting time between both playstyles. There's precious little reason to assume that theClassic Sonic portion of Forces is actually bogging the game down mechanically.
If Sonic Forces, a game where Eggman is considerably more in control than he usually is, where Sonic actually looks angry in the trailer instead of his usual cockiness, and where Sonic's worst villains are teaming up isn't interesting - it's not because "Classic Sonic Nostalgia Filter" or because "Sonic Team is so incompetent" or "the Sonic fanbase is unpleasable." It's because this game was never going to interest you in the first place.
Between the long development time, precious little being revealed, and the themed trailers we've gotten so far - Forces has been one of the most interesting Sonic games lately. We're getting a depiction of the Sonic universe that we don't typically see with a gameplay feature we never thought we'd have.
Nothing they've shown us so far looks bad. Granted that's because they've shown us little.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Forces would have been the perfect time to assimilate SATAM into game canon.
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls! No, not yet.

Shadow is playable again(as dlc but still)
¡PONLE QUE DIGA!:"¡HUMONGOSAURIO HASTA LA MUERTE!"Isn't that a leak?
I do writing, feel free to check out my stories here! https://numbugwritingblog.tumblr.com/post/686233243868102656/numbugs-shared-heroic-uniI guess so?
¡PONLE QUE DIGA!:"¡HUMONGOSAURIO HASTA LA MUERTE!"It may explore the reasons behind his Face–Heel Turn or brainwashing or to show what the real Shadow was around if the one we see with the villains is an impostor created by Infinite itself.
The only good fanboy, is a redeemed fanboy. That awesome supporting me remix
¡PONLE QUE DIGA!:"¡HUMONGOSAURIO HASTA LA MUERTE!"Assuming it's true, there's something about the idea of DLC in a Sonic game that just disgusts me. Sonic games usually come as a "whole," don't they? Rise of Lyric had that glow stick DLC but that game sucked.
Sonic titles are usually pretty bare-bones anyway. What are you going to give as DLC, bonus character skins, time trial modes, zone creation modes?
If this isn't some unique, cinematic story mode with Shadow as the main character, I'd be a bit disappointed.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!From what i heard it explains shadow's role in the story as well as infinite's backstory(and some other stuff)

That's the funny thing, it's been in dev for a while buuuut if the game is still as rough as the previews said then it clearly needs more polishing/baking time.
Plus it took a long time for playable stuff to even come out. Idk ST must be confident if they feel like they can release it without any delay. Either that or they straight up ignored anything the previews said, which tBH sounds like them. In fact Naka was totally unaware of SEGA's falling reputation back in the day and got up in some other guy's face when they told him so lol. It was pretty funny reading it.
OMG here it is. HILARIOUS.
