I use the Insta-Shield all the time on Big Arm.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!okay but that doesn't address my concern
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.x4 Yes, it is easier. The level design is ever so slightly altered, but it makes a biggot of a difference.
I'm testing...and of course it doesn't do anything in Advance 2 specifically, if you try to use it too close to an enemy it cause you to homing attack.
Which kind of ruins the point, and it ruins the point even more is that it doesn't extend your range at all in that game.
It barely even goes half an inch ahead of Sonic in Advance 1.

YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Regarding the idle quotes, I could swear that I remember Knuckles saying something like "What a spooky place" on Pumpkin Hill. Thus was a while ago though, I'd need to check again.
This song needs more love. Finally got to experience Shadow the Hedgehog after many years of curiosity. Needless to say, I was left a bit speechless and not in a good way.
Only my husband could have the stomach to go through all story paths and get the true ending. I really wanted to like this game.
I didn't realize I made an account three years ago...Follow up to what I talked about a little while back; played a little Super Mario World on emulator and The first couple of levels still don't really impress me. The graphics are nice, I'll give it that, but right now it feels kind of...well....boring. The most thrill I get so far is ducking under the giant bullets.
I'll give Sonic this; his games are a lot more thrilling from the get go, both in gameplay and presentation. But like I said before, I'm not going to seriously judge a game before I understand it.
Thunder, Thunder, Thunder...I love Shadow The Hedgehog so so much
like, the edge is so cringy and so so perfect
plus i think the branching paths thing is genuinely cool. i just think they executed it poorly.
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeThe first world is basically a tutorial...Old school.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Yeah, Donut Plains is where things start to actually get exciting. The first world shouldn't really take longer than like 10 minutes to beat, so it's just a brief warmup before you get tossed into things.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.Shadow the Hedgehog had a lot of problems. Camera issues, control issues, characters constantly popping up and telling you what to do... Probably the worst thing for me were some of the missions. "Destroy every type of enemy x" and "find every hidden y in the level" missions just aren't very fun. Despite all that, I actually had a decent time playing it. The edgy stuff never bothered me, I learned to adapt to the controls and camera, and the branching levels and auto-aiming gun system were fun. Most levels were pretty fun as long as you stuck to the goal ring missions, and a few levels like Space Gadget would become favorites. I ended up playing through it way too many times.
I never found that DAMN final key, though.

Shadow, to me, is So Okay, It's Average.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!I never had any issue with the camera or controls, and characters popping up was just a gameplay mechanic, same as Omochao, side missions, Wisps, etc. "Edginess" didn't really bother me either. My issue was just a lack of resolve to actually finish all of the game's paths. Cheesy writing, relatively simple battles. But the soundtrack and level design were killer.
I like the branching paths, multiple endings, and getting to actually control Shadow's chaos abilities.
Shadow also owns one of Eggman's most delightfully ridiculous contraptions: the Egg Dealer.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Same feelings.
The only good fanboy, is a redeemed fanboy. It's weird how the game has all this grimdark stuff, yet the paths involving Eggman have him at the goofiest he's been in the entire series. And some of the goofiest line reads from Shadow.
Shadow: Shadow...Android? Does that mean...I'm...an android too? (Good job on your William Shatner impression Shadow.)
Eggman: Yesssss.
Shadow: [beat] what.

Insert witty 'n clever quip here.Eggman, with a few exceptions (like SA 2), is largely a comedic villain.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!Sorry for repeating myself, but I think Shadow deserves some credit for having consistent (as in no gimmicks/alternate playstyles) gameplay in spite of its hit-or-miss level and mission design.
I mean, that's the only reason Colors got the praise it did in the first place, right?
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.I'm going to have to disagree somewhat.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Colors is arguably the most gimmicky game in its era. Even if people found its gimmick fun (though the level designs certainly helped), it's still a pretty huge gimmick.
And Shadow had the whole "rescue/kill this exact number of targets" thing for unlocking all the pathways. The mechanics may not have been gimmicky, but I don't really respect game design that tries to turn my gameplay into a chore.

Insert witty 'n clever quip here.Shadow is the only game of the early-3D era (SA 1-'06) to not have alternate gameplay.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life! You forget Heroes.
and Soble, you're right, but at least the gimmick is well-integrated into the core playstyle instead of being completely separate.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page....grrr.r... I suppose you may be right...
Soble.exe has stopped working.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Not quite. Heroes kinda had alternate gameplay in the forms of the Flight and Power formations.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!I mean, I can actually argue that the Wisps are gimmicky on its own, but compared to Treasure Hunting, Mech Shooting, and Werehogging, it's a godsend.
Yes, the Wisps are only good by comparison. Same goes for Classic Sonic in Generations.
Again, they are well-integrated into the main playstyle instead of being completely separate. They're better integrated than Wisps, actually.

Honestly, I never was able to figure out how to use the insta-shield right in any of the games that use it.
Maybe it doesn't help that the first game I remember playing that had it was Advance 2, and, to be honest, I don't remember it actually doing anything in that game.
