That's Eggman turning all of Sonic's friends into Eggman knockoff personalities.

It does have its moments. Eggheads was a good one.

When I say stiff, I'm comparing it to the CGI cutscenes for recent games like Sonic Unleashed and Colors, which look really fluid, dynamic and cartoony, while Boom doesn't. They don't really get the sense of speed right at all, and that's kind of an issue.

[up][up][up]That and Sonic responds via turning Eggman to a knockoff of himself. It's about as amusing seeing Eggman act like Sonic as you might expect....

[up][up] Yeah, the animation itself isn't topnotch, although still fairly good. I do admit the jokes aren't high quality, but they're fun enough.

I do enjoy the show, but it's often overpraised. I do agree it's better than the games when it comes to overall quality, though.

[up]It certainly looks nice. It's just that it's a little too stiff a lot of the time.

Agreed on it being a bit overpraised. It's good, but nothing really to write home about. And it isn't hard to be better then something like Rise of Lyric or even Shattered Crystal.

Saying it's not as good as Miraculous Ladybug is kind of unfair though. That show has a lot of budget behind it and animation made to fit the English track with attention to detail.

It's kind of amazing Sonic Boom's still going at all with how much is stacked against it, including almost no commercials whatsoever and mostly surviving on word of mouth via fans, and even then there's many that won't ever watch the show because of bias.

Amazing World of Gumball is great, just sayin'.

I mostly watch it for the voice actors. They're clearly having fun with their roles and as of right now it's the only media to here the characters in for the last few years. And whatever else people might say about the show, there's no denying it's been a great opportunity for the actors to get comfortable in their roles. Especially Amy. Not her fault mind, she just had a bad director for her first few games.

The games have more fluid animation because they have a much more massive budget.

That and there's only less than handful of those CGI scenes, most of the game simply use the in-game renders.

I do enjoy the show, but it's often overpraised.

Is it, though? The show has plenty of detractors, or at least people who think it's So Okay, It's Average.

I haven't seen that many detractors nowadays. I know before people were heavily against Boom. Doesn't seem so much now.

However, I do think a lot people think of the show being average/okay/mediocre. Which is very understandable.

A lot of hate I've seen has been towards it being the reason Rise of Lyric exists, so some of it is unjustified.

Personally I'm just sad they didn't try to Jojo up the series. More poses, more bizarre powers, and more dramatic mindgames.

[up][up][up] The worst I've heard is that "It's not like AOSTH", which to be honest, is kind of a pointless comparison. They both clearly depend on unique humor. One is slapstick, the other is memes/references. Now, some of the humor in Boom I wouldn't call high quality, which is fair.

Also, yeah, Rise of Lyric does not affect the show. Judge it on its own merits.

Plus, the show brought back a variation of Super Knuckles. Even moreso that this is the only one that has a thing to do with Rise of Lyric. The creators outright said that Knuckles' Flying Glitch is canon in the show, referencing this particular scene in question. Everything else is pretty unrelated, even the main villain isn't there, just being Eggman and other unique show-created villains(who actually are pretty funny at times. None of them are actually bland at all, although they're clearly not super developed by any means, but a lot of it is due to the fact the show has less continuity than others. It affects character development, a consequence of that design. Not the biggest deal, though).

The connection to Rise of Lyric was because, at least initially, the game was supposed to be a prologue for the show. That fell through and the game ended up having nothing to do with the show.

As it stands now, there's no real explanation for how Team Boom met, where Sticks came from, and there probably never will be unless they do what Teen Titans did and make an "origin" episode later.

I don't think Shattered Crystal deserves the hate it gets. I mean, it's not the best Sonic game out there, but I thought it was pretty OK. Most people have 2 criticisms: "muh fast" and again, it's related to Rise of Lyric.

It's not Ogre, It's Never Ogre.

I thought it was just the story was meh. Was otherwise fine. Rise of Lyric had a better story, but was a serious glitchfest. Unfortunately, the proper gameplay was very mediocre, and the glitches and story was its most popular point.

So fixing the game with patches did little to make it actually good as a game.

I just elect to ignore it, because I still don't care for Sonic's redesign. That the show's apparently well-written makes it difficult for me to hate on it outright.

The only part of the Boom subseries that I liked was the comic book. So, it was a shame it was cancelled after less than a year.

The comic contained my favorite moment of Clement's "Why I like Sonic" video where Eggman finds a guy online who is named "Eggfan 91" and complains about everything Eggman does. Eggman is left baffled.

Lego Dimensions has some weird licenses, like I know Knight Rider is coming, because 8 year Olds totally give a shit about the Hoff. Wouldn't surprise me tbh.

Weren't there murmuring's about Respawn making a Sonic game? I mean, what the ass, why couldn't that be true? They've demonstrated a God damn mastery of making momentum based movement mechanics in Titanfall, why couldn't they do a Sonic project?
