Only problem with that is if Governor Walker was really in the direct pay of the Koch brothers, he and/or his staffers would probably at least be able to recognize their voices and manners of speaking and thus this sort of prank wouldn't work. Now, pandering for funding, that's a different issue, and of course he revealed many of his dirty constitutional ploys.
Wow, a crooked politician. Who would have thought.
-whistles-
He's fucked.
Yay for investigative journalism? I just hope this doesn't turn out to be a crime or something (or if legislatures turn around and try to MAKE it a crime).
EDIT: By crime, I mean posing as someone else in a conversation.

Sounds like Walker's gonna be slammed like LEGO-hair Blagovich.
I'm pretty sure posing as someone else is a form of fraud isn't it?
Fight smart, not fair.I don't understand how this could be bad for Walker. After all, the people who voted for him knew this already. That's why they voted for him.
For anyone who was on the fence and sided with the Republicans last election to give them their majority, this might be enough to convince them to switch sides next time. It can also motivate turnout in the Democratic voter base, which was demoralized in 2010.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Knowing how bad the Republicans are doesn't motivate Democrats to vote. Otherwise, Kerry would have been elected in 2004.
It did, however, get Obama elected in 2008. Generally, for a major shift to occur during an election, there must be a hot button topic that one side of the electorate is highly motivated over. In 2008, this was the recession (viewed as caused by Republican policies) and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2010, it was the continuing economic stagnation, the deficit, and the perception of excessive government spending, abetted by public [mis]conceptions about health care reform. And don't forget how close it really was in 2004 (*cough* Florida *cough*).
In 2012, it may well be Republican overreach in attacking entitlements, education, and unions in the name of deficit reduction. Also if the economy doesn't markedly improve on the Reps' watch.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Of course that's true. I'm just offering it as a datum that does predictably influence elections.

...I hope the Koch brothers die in a fire, their skin melting on to the floor.
YOU are a whore for them, Scott Walker!! You Republicans and your big money, someone should take away all their money and burn it all!

Damn, I'm curious as to what got thumped off this topic.
Anyways, I'm afraid that after this prank, pols will go to greater lengths to ID their callers. Which is a shame, nothing like outing a crooked politician.
Thoughts from Wisconsinites on what effect, if any, this will have on the governor's reelection chances?
Share it so that people can get into this conversation, 'cause we're not the only ones who think like this.Don't blame me, I voted for Barret. As you can tell by the fact that I now have Walker's face in the Eye of Mordor as my avatar.
Anyway, to actually answer your question: I think, if Walker isn't recalled outright, he's not likely to win reelection. One of my friends (who is a bit on the conservative side) is really against Walker right now, as are all but the most conservative of my friends (and the apolitical ones, who as always don't care).
I think his approvals are like 30-50 now or something. That is, 30% thumbs up, 50% thumbs down.
If he were to run for re-election right now, obviously he'd be screwed. The only problem is that the recall has to wait until at least next year.
That said, with the way things are going, I think that progressives have found the silver lining to 2010: There are now plenty of juicy targets, and a motivation to defeat them.
Re thread topic:
- As the second poster said, he and his staff obviously don't know David Koch. Unless the impersonator actually really studied and imitated Mr. Koch well, which I doubt.
- He was likely trying to butter the guy for campaign funds down the road.
He had to have known him to some degree, given what he divulged during the call.
Probably, but not that well. My guess is he was/is a regular contributor in the past (and very possibly even now), but not necessarily a direct and immediate part of the Governor Walker Screw the Unions cabal or what have you.
Thought it deserved its own topic.
