Sure, anyone with enough skill to make a good Banjo platfomer is fine with me.

Rare Announces Kinect Sports: Calorie Challenge

Okay, that's cool, Rare, but after this can you make another Banjo game?
No, seriously, I rather enjoyed Nuts & Bolts and want to see what they could do if they made an actual Banjo platformer.

Why I am afraid of fences.Actually, as long as Banjo is in something good that's not on Kinect, I'm fine with whatever Rare pumps out.
Then I'll wait for whenever he's in a good game that's not on Kinect. If that doesn't happen, I'm stuck with watching videos and keeping pics of said game, hoping someone will upload a model and voice clips even though I've never used a model in my life.
Unless, say, the good Kinect game breeds merchandise with Banjo in it. If there's something I can buy that interests me, I'd try to get it and be content, maybe even happy with it.
Oh god, please be true. Words cannot possibly express how much I want this.
Why I am afraid of fences. It's official, I will need a DS.
Oh my god, that's awesome!
I am completely, utterly, and thoroughly done with Sola Sonica and 2D...I'm only hoping for a Killer Instinct game. Favorite Rare series overall.
Quest 64 threadRare was a great developer in the Nintendo 64 era, and a fairly decent one after that. Since Kinect became their focus, though, there really isn't anything left in Rare for me to like.
Retro Studios is the new rare.
When did this thread pop up again? And more importantly, why?
Why is our beautiful game company drifting off into deep space?! Why are its fans such depressed, pessimistic malcontents?! WHY?! WHY?! WHYYYYYYYYYYY!

Who has the rights to Killer Instinct? Now would be the ideal time to make another
Except [condescending response follows]. Because [sarcasm here]. You do understand [snark], right? POTHOLE TO SARCASM MODERare.
Since they have been working on making a Banjo game possibly for the 3DS... well, they might just revive this franchise. If Nintendo suggests it, anyway.
They did make a teaser about it, so it's clearly not forgotten, and if they check John Tobias' Twitter before Mortal Kombat 9 was launched, Killer Instinct had quite a lot of fans.
I just wish that and Clayfighter were fully revived. But yeah.
Quest 64 threadAgreed about the Clayfighter revival. Also, about Calorie Challenge, they're ripping off Mario And Sonic At The Olympic Winter Games through the concept of "rivals". And now there's a kinect sports isla- i mean 2.
I am completely, utterly, and thoroughly done with Sola Sonica and 2DWhy would anyone WANT Rare to revive their old I Ps by this point? A Conker game without Chris Seavor or a Banjo Kazooie game without Grant Kirkhope would just be awful, no matter who else made it. Rare is dead, get used to it or continue disappointing yourselves.
Ah, a Rare thread.
I've pretty much accepted that Rare is never going to be great as they once were. The best we can do now is hope for some sort of Spiritual Successor to one of their franchises, or maybe a fangame.

Why did the owners sell out to microsoft & why didn't nintendo stop them?
Also, free Radical (makers of Timesplitter) were founded by a few Rare members but nintendo dropped the ball on acquiring them too. They got bought by Crytek & make games for PS 360
when is nintendo going to stop letting their superb developers slip through their fingers?
(I waited years for Perfect dark zero to come out on Gamecube, when it was released on XBOX 360 instead, my rage was immeasurable)
Rare has been dead ever since it's core members left, all that remains are it's IP (Classic goldeneye, Activisions version sucked, Banjo, Jet Force Gemini, Perfect Dark, Conker, Battle Toads )
microsoft just keeps sitting on them & churning out shovelware trash like Vivi Pinata. how much would it cost nintendo to buy them back? I'd be willing to spend $100 million, then ask the old staff if they want to come back, for the gamers sake. I'd also get Square Enix or whatever to bring the Final Fantasy franchise back (been missing since the ols supernes days) I always held the crystal chronicles to be a cheap mockery of the epic stories that the playstations & xbox get in their FF games.
Note, nintendo also Epic Fail ed in letting factor5 shut it's doors (Though they had finished Rogue Squadron 4 on the Wii, it'll never be released) (the german branch remains, but doesn't do sh!t, as always)
And they let Team Ninja make the abominable Other M despite Retro Studios having proven themselves with the epic Metroid Prime franchise.

Slaying all enemies in the Name of the Goddess of the Force! If I remember correctly, Nintendo had no issue in selling Rare, to them it was a sweet deal (indeed, Rare still hasn't made back the money Microsoft has paid for them), so don't go saying that they were helpless about the whole thing.
I was a Rare fan for the longest time, even after the buyout. My interest faded over the years (the Conker remake, lackluster GBA games, the unoriginal Avatars, the whole Goldeneye007 fiasco), and I was starting to get a bit ticked with them after Nuts and Bolts (although it's a good game, it felt like Rare was extending a middle finger to Banjo Kazooie fans), and I gave up completely when Rare decided to whore out Kinect Sports. Apparently, according to an interview with a Microsoft employee, they didn't force their obsession with Kinect. Rare is so bloody convinced that it's the future of gaming, they won't make another thing that doesn't involve Kinect.
With that said, I wish the buyout didn't happen. Who knows if Rare would have been better or worse then they are now, but maybe things would have been better. Ironically, I could see Rare doing something like a motion control sports game for the Wii and everybody praises the hell out of them, compared to the reaction they have right now.

"Pancakes. Oh, I blew it." - Joel Hodgson Nobody better lay a Butterfinger on my 3DS!It was a good idea, but not all good ideas work out as planned. At least Retro made the stellar Donkey Kong Country Returns after they stopped making Metroid titles.

Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.I too miss the old Rare, especially after the absolute masterpieces that were Banjo-Tooie and Conker's Bad Fur Day. The only game I didn't want to get from them was Star Fox Adventures, due to its bad reputation, but even it wasn't THAT bad, as I can attest after (accidentally) getting it.
Time marches on, tropers. Rare had its era, all things have their eras as well. Time to consider new talents.

By that logic, wouldn't it be just as sensible to give it to, say, Sucker Punch or Naughty Dog? Or even Insomniac?
