I thought this would be a Sand Josieph thread for sure...
I'd expect situations like that to be squarely in awkward territory. Like, if A gets raped by a mind-controlled B and knows B isn't at fault, A may or may not hold that grudge but would still be residually extremely uncomfortable around B. B is likely to hold similar feelings on the matter.
Naturally, the better target of both persons' aggressions would be whoever mind-controlled B into doing so. In a way, they were both raped by whoever instigated the mind control.

^Agreed. Both were raped by the mind-controller. Now, each party might feel differently about it, but in the end it was still rape against both of them.
Democracy is the process in which we determine the government that we deserveI thought this would be a Sand Josieph thread as well.
If you're asking how someone would react, I'm not sure how to answer beyond "it depends on the person".
Fight smart, not fair.I suppose it depends on the brand of mind control.
You have the zombie mode, the remembers-everything-but-had-no-control, the remembers-everything-and-was-hypnotized-to-be-that-way, More than Mind Control, and the stufff in between.
@Deboss: Well, I was referring to in general (the same way that rape victims might blame themself, even though in general it is not their fault) but if you want to delve into what the common reactions might be, I'm all ears.

Read my stories! The proper link is Rape Is OK When It Is Sci Fi.
Yeah, I realized that when I posted. I was able to edit my post, but not the title.
Read my stories!^ What do you want the title changed to?
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Just the actual trope would be nice. "Rape Is OK When It Is Sci Fi"
Read my stories!Taken care of. It doesn't make a link, though. That only works in the TRS and Image Pickin sub forums.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.That's fine.
Read my stories!I dislike the title, but okay.
Fight smart, not fair. Why would it ever be okay to blame someone who is mind controlled?
Anime geemu wo shinasai!A question for the OP: Are we talking about in fiction, Real Life or both?
If I were to write some of the strange things that come under my eyes they would not be believed. ~Cora M. Strayer~There was a thought experiment in which a man who had initially angry at someone and thinking of killing him was then Mind Controlled to do it. People who read it judged the man much more harshly than would be expected considering that he was under Mind Control.
"All pain is a punishment, and every punishment is inflicted for love as much as for justice." — Joseph De Maistre. Are you talking about non-fiction mind control methods?
Anime geemu wo shinasai!@Drunk: I'm a writer at heart, so sorta fiction, sorta not?
That weird gray area where you try to make fiction handled as realistically as possible, I suppose.
Sabio pretty much explained the moral ambiguity. Especially if mind control is more of a nudging, or exaggerating already present emotions (for example, you have a sex drive/dominant personality? Lets drive it up to eleven so you rape the first person you see!).
Personally, that's what I'm interested in. Finding out how almost impossible to achieve in this world situations, and how they would be handled realistically, by those affected by the situation, and from an bird's eye standpoint.

Read my stories! For some really complex moral views on rape in scifi see Lexx. Xev was sentenced to become a mindless sex slave, but escaped with her mind intact and an inhumanly high sex drive. This forces her to seek out sex at every opportunity.
Then, in season 4, just to make it even more complex, a goth girl kidnaps a priest and forces him to rape Xev. He apologises the whole time while Xev lies through her teeth that she doesn't blame him, she blames the goth girl, so he should just comply and not antagonise their captor. In truth she doesn't mind at all, see the first paragraph, and may even be trying to dissuade him from trying not to do it.
That seems rather...urgish. At least the 'I wanted it anyway' thing. It kinda serves as a safety net from drama or rape-ish emotions.
Read my stories!Aww, I thought this trope was going to be something along the lines of "Raped By SCIENCE!" >:(

So, I was going through the rape tropes, and I came across this one, Rape Is OK When It Is Sci Fi, and was quite interested by it, since it appears to be fairly new.
My topic is this, would there be some situations where the rape implications grey, or even fade away entirely?
For instance, if someone is mindcontrolled into raping someone, would said person (while obviously still being affected by the rape) treat the person as a rapist, even if they were informed of their mindcontrolling?
Or, if someone's body was indeed posessed, would that or would that not be rape? Would it only be rape if the person having sex with the posessed knew of the posession?
