Lake has expected that the kind of items that would be sold at a shop in this world would be different...but he hadn't expected to find a what appeared to be some sort of jaw-guard for sale.
Lake: <Excuse me, but what's this?>
He indicates the piece of amour to one of the owner of the stall, a Flygon.
Flygon: <Ah, that, my reptillian friend is a Hydro Jaw, a rather sought after item by Feraligatr such as yourself.>
Lake: <I see...what does it do?>
Flygon: <Well, by simply wearing it over your lower jaw, it will convert any electric attack that you are hit by into HP! Marvelous, no?>
There was a short pause as Lake gave the Flygon a skeptical look.
Lake: <...You're joking, right?>
At Lake's remark, the Flygon's eyes go wide, the insect-like dragon letting out an annoyed chitter.
Flygon: <Absolutely not! I would never even think of selling an item that didn't do work as intended!>
Lake: <Whoa! Sorry, sorry. It's just, it heals damage from any electric move? It almost sounds too good to be true.>
Flygon: <But it is true, good sir! And it can be yours for the price of 5000 Poké!>
Lake: <Oh, right...>
Lake frowned. He didn't have any of this "Poké", so buying anything was out of the question. For the moment...
<This might sound a bit weird, but if I wanted to earn some Poké, where would a Pokémon like me go?>
Flygon: <Oh, are you new in town?>
The Feraligatr nods quickly.
Lake: <Yeah, that's it! I'm new around here and totally not clueless about how things work in this society at all! Honest!>
Real smooth, Lake. If Feraligatr were capable of blushing, his cheeks would have been a rosy red. The Flygon shopkeeper, meanwhile, was beginning to suspect that this Feraligatr had spent a bit too much time at the bottom of a river or something.
Flygon: <...Anyway, there are various ways you could earn Poké but the two easiest are to get a job helping somemon at a stall...>
Lake: <Right...>
Flygon: <...Or find some like-minded Pokémon and form an exploration team at the guild.>
Lake: <Okay, got it.
...
...What's an exploration team?>
The Flygon stares blankly at Lake, the Feraligatr replying with an uncomfortable look.
<Yeah, I came from really far away to get here.>

Cesar: No, I was working on—
Black Knight: I am not interested in your pet projects, Cesar. Not after the last one put an entire squad in intensive care.
Cesar: A minor miscalculation! But this time you'll be interested. I was building this!
-with a flourish, the Alakazam produces from within an armful of maps and blue prints what appears to be a Stealth Rock with a chunk of glowing rock on one end. He lets the thing go and it hesitates, swinging back and forth, then stops with the glowing rock facing Black Knight-
Black Knight: ... What am I looking at?
Cesar: A shard detector! I didn't want to tell you about the Orb—or the shard we found—until I was done! The whole team's been working on it! See, the shard of the Orb on the end is pumped full of Psychic energy. It's drawn towards the nearest shard to it. So we had someone cough up a Stealth Rock, and made this!
Black Knight: -nods, then turns to look back out the window- Ready some of our best agents. You and your little rock here are going hunting.
Cesar: -looks a little put out at the lack of commentary on his detector, but gathers his things- Yes, Black Knight.

Eskay: Whether you believe us or not, it's fine with me. But we need to get Wilbur's pearl back as fast as possible. And since Skye saw what could be the theif going toward the portal, we can't let you come with us. I am truly sorry.
