- Chrome is sitting by himself when Xavier approaches-

Xavier: You OK, buddy?

Chrome: -sighs- To be honest? No.

Xavier: Well, my date with Styx last night went well, at least... but what's bothering you is her brother, isn't it?

Chrome: I'm worried. He's a nice guy, and I'm worried what we have to tell him will break his spirit...

Xavier: Well, he's High Preist of a Legendary, so...

Chrome: Don't talk to me about legendaries.

Xavier: You know, you should really stop that grudge...

Chrome: YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY'VE DONE TO ME, ALAKAZAM!

- pause. -

Chrome: I'm sorry... I've had a long, rough life...

Xavier: If you don't mind me asking... can you show me? So I can understand?

Chrome: ...Alright.

- They link psychically, and Chrome starts beaming memories to Xavier-

Thousands of years ago

- Four Beldum are flying through the charred remains of a massive, but very unhumanlike city-

Beldum 1: Hurry! Before they see...

Beldum 2: Eeek!

-They all see Lugia passing overhead. -

Beldum 3: He's seen us! Hide!

- They fly onward, with Lugia following close behind. They reach a labyrinth of hidden buildings and hide in it. -

Beldum 4: Maybe we're safe here...

- Lugia pokes his head around a corner, but does not see them. -

Beldum 1: We're doomed...

- Suddenly, Lugia hears a loud noise. He flies off. A scream is heard shortly afterwards, but he does not return.-

Beldum 2: T-That was close...

- Suddenly, Darkrai appears. -

Darkrai: Well, what do we have here?

- the Beldums cower -

Darkrai: Hmph. It's not good sport, disposing of kids, but someone has to do it... -Charges a Dark Pulse-

???: Not on your life, Darkrai.

- Skymin leaps in front of the Beldums. -

Skymin: Touch them, and you'll see why everyone fears my Air Slash.

Darkrai: I thought we were on the same side?

Skymin: Not for things like this. They're children.

Darkrai: Fine. -floats off-

Skymin: -sighs and turns to the Beldums- I'd ask you guys if you were alright, but... this isn't alright.

Beldum 3: Why are the gods doing this, miss Shaymin? Why are they angry?

Skymin: I didn't want to do this. None of us did. But some of your people - as well as the Alakazam - tried messing with forces they shouldn't have. And we had no other choice. But I don't want you kids to get hurt.

Beldum 4: Thank you for saving us, Miss Shaymin.

Skymin: -smiles- It's no problem. You guys stay safe, okay?

- she flies off-

A few hundred years later

- Two Metang - fusions of the Beldum from earlier - are watching tribal humans and their Pokemon from afar. -

Metang 1: They look like they have potential...

Metang 2: What are you talking about? They have no claws, no elemental powers, nothing. I would be surprised if they lasted a century in this world...

About 1000 years ago

-the two Metang have fused into a Metagross, and are talking with a man -

Metagross: The Tree of Beginning? You're going THERE and leaving me behind? Why?

Aaron: Metagross, this is something only Lucario and I can do. Not you or Polly.

Metagross: Are you sure you know what you're doing?

-Aaron nods-

Meatgross: ...Good I trust you. But be careful.

- Aaron walks out of the room. -

Aaron: Perhaps I should have told him the truth...

A few days later

- Skymin flies in through a castle window into the room where the Metagross is staying. -

Metagross: S-Shaymin! What are you doing here?

Skymin: Sir Aaron and Lucario are dead.

Metagross: What?!

Skymin: -hangs her head sadly- I'm sorry.

- The Metagross is speechless... Then grows furious. -

Metagross: <The Mew at the Tree... He could have solved the problem himself! He tricked them!>

Skymin: <Wait, Metagross, you don't understand!>

-The Metagross, unfortunately, is already gone-

A few days later

- Metagrosss arrive at Mew's cave-

Metagross: Mew! You're going to pay!

Mew: Calm down, will ya? I would've been toast if that guy hadn't stepped in.

Skymin: That's no reason for you to let them die!

Mew: I repaid him in full! Well, his spirit anyway...

Metagross: You what?

Mew: Look, if all goes well you'll see what I mean eventually. Just-

Metagross: Don't goad me with vauge "reassurances"! That's still no excuse to view them as disposable!

- Mew sighs in frustration and disappears with a -blip-. Metagross sighs in resignation-

700 years ago

- The Metagross is talking with some other Metagross and some Alakazam-

Protag!Metagross: But why do you need me for this? I don't even like legendaries!

Alakazam: Exactly. The humans won't suspect us.

Protag!Metagross: And why are you using humans? Wouldn't our kind be better?

Other!Metagross: You're forgetting that humans haven't made quite as bad mistakes as we did back in our "heyday"...

Protag!Metagross: I still don't feel right about this...

Other!Metagross: We're freinds here. And you're the only one here with enough experience with humans to take care of that girl.

-Protag!Metagross thinks of the girl and suddenly feels a twang of pity.-

Protag!Metagross: ...Fine. I accept.

619 years ago

- the Metagross is searching for something -

Metagross: She has to be around here somewhere...

-He comes across a young red-headed girl trying to fight off a swarm of ghosts feeding on her-

Girl: Back! -slices with a Shadow Claw-

- The Metagross Meteor mashes the swarm, scaring it off-

Lina: Thank you, mister Metagross! I'm Lina!

Metagross: <You're welcome.>

Lina: Can you be my Metagross and help stop the ghosts?

Metagross: <I don't see why not.>

Lina: Yay! -hugs the Metagross- I'll call you Chrome! :3

About 80 years ago

- Lina and Chrome are standing outside a bar in Unova -

Lina: -slurps her beer- I'm just glad I can drink this in public again...

Chrome: <Lina?>

Lina: Yes, Chrome?

Chrome: <Have I been a good friend to you all these years?>

Lina: -Smirks- That's like asking if rain is wet. -hugs him- You're great, Chrome.

Present

Chrome: That's my story.

Xavier: Wow. You have been through a lot...

Chrome: Things are better now. -sighs- I just worry if that will change when I tell Umbra the truth...

Xavier: ...Truth about what?

Chrome: ...

Tangent: Hi Luke, Lake! How have things been going lately?

Pankaja: -sees Phyco surface, blinks obliviously, then waves with his tail- <Hi!>

Breeze: <Hey, what's that?> -points at the Maniac Tunnel-

Dunno...let's check it out?

Diesel: -hops into the tunnel, starts picking at the walls- <Hmm...>

Aha!

-Every, Diesel, and Breeze start digging at the wall, and out falls-

-a Blue Sphere Size 98!-

Ugh. Stupid lookalikes.

-leaves the Sphere, starts making his way out of the Ruins-

"So what is there to do in Blackthorn?"

Wally's Mareep has met a Poliwag that is struggling to stay balanced enough to make it back into the water about a few feet away.

Artesia: "There's the gym..."

Casval: "Not interested."

Artesia: "Which specializes in Dragon-types, last I recall."

Casval suddenly disappears only to reappear at the gym's doors.

Casval: "What are we waiting for? Come on!"

Narrator: That man is one of the most capricious people I have ever met.

"That's the best part about him, isn't it?"

Artesia: "I wholeheartedly agree."

Both catch up to Casval.

Narrartor: -sighs- Ow!

Artesia's Narrator is hit by a flung Poliwag, which after hitting him square on the fore head, rebounds into the water.

Wally's Mareep: <Maaaaaa~> -waves-

Narrator: ...

Route 35

[Inka] and a certain Eeveelution who also used to tag along with Silent are following Tangent and await a short distance from the group, closer to Pankaja.

Inka: <Oh? Luke is around?> — flickers ears — <Come, let's go see?>

????eon -stretches, yawns: <Nevermind me, I'm just being nondescript...>

Inka lets out a hiss at her old friend's lack of initiative and darts forward just besides Tangent.

Solaceon Ruins, Near Entrance

Seems weird...this whole big cave system, and only one Tear?

Mix: <Clearly there's another. :3>

Breeze: <I'm not scanning in here. Too many Unown.>

Marmalade: <...This is taking too long.>

Silent sees Casval and Artesia heading to the Gym. "I'll catch up with you guys shortly! depending on RL Hopefully I can see some dragons battling."

Enters the Pokémart to sell some stuff.

Phyco gazes at the Wooper and Scyther for a few seconds, then meets their greeting with a simple nod. Luke, meanwhile, takes note of the various Pokémon with Tangent today. Basket (Duh.), Rosary, Lua (Cute!), Abigail and Thresher (D'aww.), and a few others, most likely from the PEFE HQ.

Still in the water, Lake can't help but chukle to himself when a certain Nidorina suddenly shows up. He was tempted to introduce her to Phyco, but he wasn't that cruel a mon.

"Wow. Quite a few peoplemons with you today. Anyway, we've been okay. We're working on a little...well, project right now."

Ashley and Hunter and also exploring the ruins, their Pokemon doing their best to help. Clockwise, after freaking out about being underground, was recalled, however, along with Domino. Cole and Cesar both look pretty miserable, but refuse to go back into their balls.

James and Trixie, on the other hand, are cool with it, and are doing the best of the two teams at looking.

-Gives Lina an unreadable look-

<Er...>

Nudi: <Tagg doesn't like to be touched very much.>

Lina: Oh, sorry. -removes herself from Tagg.-

Tangent: Well, it's a nice day in my home region, why not spend it outdoors with some friends? Besides, it's been forever since we last met Inka and Silent's-

LUA! Stay out of the tall grass when we aren't training... Inka's cousins love challenging passerby.

Lua: <Nidos:cuddle(warm stoats)?>

Tangent: Well.. that's possible too...

-relays Marmalade to Hunter and Ashley-

Luke briefly wonders whether to tell Tangent about their proposed challenge or not, then tosses that idea out the window when he considers that, as far as things go for them, this would be considered rather mundane.

"We ran into Suicune a few days back Johto's Suicune, not Oblivia's, and he (she?) proposed a little a challenge."

Lake — Swims up to the shore. <What Luke has to do is catch and train a new team of Pokémon to fight...er...to fight Suicune with.>

"We've been looking for some new Pokémon to train, as well as trying to make Phyco here more suited to battling on land."

Luke gestures to the Kingdra, who's keeping an eye on the group, but otherwise staying out of the conversation at the moment.

"But neither of those are going well so far."

"'Kay. Serge, give us a little more light," Hunter orders the Luxio. Growling in assent, he uses Charge. Electricity surges through his fur, lighting up the area around him.

"Oh, by the way Every, if you ever have problems flying people... I have three bird Pokemon. Just so you—James, knock it off!" Ashley moves over to stop James from pushing Ion down some stairs.

Route 35

Inka: -licks her foreleg coolly- <We take pride in the strength of our kits. It is only right that they may demonstrate it here...>

-grins knowingly- <Never unsupervised, of course.>

Three Different Nidorino Nobody But Inka Realizes Are Nearby: -smirk-

Tangent: Oh? You have a Kingdra now?

Hmm... what would you say to a quick practice battle? Say, Phyco and-

Pankaja: <Ooh! Ooh! Pick me! I can fight!>

Overhearing the human that Luke and Lake referred to as "Tangent" mention something about a practice battle, Phyco eagerly swims to the shore, more than happy to attempt to make up for his earlier humiliation.

Phyco — <I accept you challenge, human!>

Luke sweatdrops, not expecting the Kingdra to be so eager.

"Oh! Well...I was going to say yes anyway...so yes, Tangent, I accept your challenge."

Phyco — Observes Tangent's Pokémon. <Which one of you shall be challenging me, then?>

Meanwhile, Lake feels as if he's being watched for some reason he can't explain...

"Now she has Clockwise!" Hunter calls over, following close behind Serge.

"Still a stupid name..." Ashley mutters to herself, bending down to examine a sparkly blue thing that turns out to be a Water Stone. Absentmindedly putting it in her bag, she moves on.

Clockwise is a pretty cool name, I think.

Mix: -sniffing a very lost Azurill-

Tangent: Well, I was thinking Basket-

Tangent: -but Pankaja here seems in the mood for a throwdown, so I'll let him practice.

"Thank you," Hunter says, giving Ashley a pointed look, who ignores him.

"Anyone see anything yet?" Ashley asks, ignoring Hunter.
