Jimmy wanted the night to last, no security or old military buddies to bother him, Janet was free from her office hours, apparently she had to keep dealing with a spikey haired lawyer in blue a lot recently, and some guy in orange who turned to mush around her.
Tonight, it was just them, he had what he needed. The time was perfect.
"Janet..." Jimmy began.
Janet looked up, "Yes dear?"
Jimmy stopped dancing, got down on one knee, "Since it's just you and me right now, I have something to say."
Jimmy's heart was racing, he was trying his best to smile but he felt like he was gonna panic, this was almost as bad as that time in college with Samuel.
"Janet will yo-" His phone went off. Jimmy groaned, only to suddenly feel the phone fly out of his back pocket into the hands of Mantis who motioned a thumbs up.
Jimmy blinked, turned back to Janet, "Janet will you marry me," He produced the box and opened it up, the glittering blue diamond ring sitting there.
Janet felt her heart do several flips as her mind raced, this is why Jimmy had been so busy the past year? Just saving up to get her the ring she had her eyes on, she uneasily cracked a smile, struggling for what to say.
"I hope someone with their life as together as you can accept a disaster like me."
"Disaster nothing! Together we're a goddamned hurricane!"
She pulled Jimmy close and hugged him tight, "Of course you oaf! I've been waiting for you to ask for awhile now!"
Janet was laughing, Jimmy started to laugh. The two were laughing hard, it was so absurd how this all went down.
Raiden was the first to ask, <Wait if she was waiting... why didn't she ask?>
Rex spoke up, <Janet confided in Rex that she wanted to see if Jimmy would ever take initiative considering how tired he looked. She is aware now.>
<Oh... so she wanted some tradition from James?> <Totally.>
Mantis checked the message, floating over, <It seems James might be needed after all. We have some bad news.>
The Ice!Blight was starting to look a little ragged, but it continued on, almost unaware of it's plight.
