Vierr: Wow. Like, really, that's kind of ridiculous.

Alyssa: <...It's not as bad as being a terrible wizard.>

-He's interrupted by a gasp-

Athena: <Oh my gosh you're a wizard!?>

-The two stop and slooooowly turn toward the Manaphy that just noticed them.-

Athena: <Hai wizard guy!>

Buriki is dancing around an abandoned ballroom. The fixtures and chandelier lights aren't working, but he's set up some floor lights, their beams visible in the dust his feet kick up.

At the center of the room is an operating table, empty... for now.

Buriki(?): This used to be a funhouse! But now it's full of evil clowns. It's time to start the countdown! I'm gonna burn it down, down, down! I'm gonna burn it down!

He stops dancing, just humming along.

Buriki(?): Ah. A base of operations acquired. Now, how to begin?

Athena: <So are you really a wizard? Can you do magic? Do something magicy! I can do a sorta magicy thing too but it always happens when I'm not trying and it gets all weird and people don't like it when I do it so— >

Vierr: Mmmmmph!

-Vierr flails and pulls Athena off his face.-

Vierr: Don't do that!

Athena: <Don't do what?>

Vierr: The huggy thing! I don't do hugs!

Alyssa: <I do hugs, if you want.>

Athena: <Ooooooooooh. Okay!>

-Athena flails out of Vierr's grip, and uses his face as a springboard to jump onto Alyssa's.-

-She sorta flails in midair, accidentally causing a glowy thing and sending both of them falling backward.-

-But hey, at least she landed on Alyssa's face, right? Right?-

Athena: <Oooops! Sorry sorry sorry! This isn't going well okay I'll see you later bye!>

-She flops back into the water, apologizing profusely as she leaves.-

-She picks herself up... and flails as she realizes something is horribly, horribly wrong.-

-They both go into coughing fits as they realize what just happened.-

-Or more accurately, Lumen is "commanding" Delphox!Ren, Kitsune, and Shantotto in a triple battle against a Raichu, Politoed, and a Ludicolo. Zorro, disguised as Ren, is watching from spectator's box.-

-Ren has a Heat Rock tuck in on of his "sleeves" and Kitsune and Shantotto each have a Fire Gem around their necks. Lumen and Ren have made a psychic link so Lumen can "command" by announcing Ren's instructions. However, because of how the turns fell...-

Politoed's Drizzle made it rain!! It started to rain! Rain continues to fall!

Delphox!Ren: <Oh well... Can't start every battle under favorable conditions...>

-He stands back up. Gui jumps in the air.-

-Gui pouts.-

-She starts running in a random direction.-

Zeal: Um, well... He worked under my uncle for a while, but then my uncle disappeared and now he's basically the CEO until my uncle returns.

Zeal: Well, I guess I should mention that a lot of people are scared of him. His family was pretty well-known for having connections to almost every criminal organization in existence, but Dane's a nice guy. He's done his best to wash that image away.

Gui: Is that all?

Zeal: Probably? You're going to meet him in a minute.

Gui: Ooh, I am?! Yay, let's go!

-She runs off in a random direction again.-

Zeal: W— Actually, you're going the right way this time...

-He runs after her to point out the specific building.-

Ren: ~Lumen, remember what I said to do in situations like these?~

-out loud- Delphox, Sunny Day! Kitsune and Shanotto, boost to Heat Wave!

Ace Trainer: Thunder on the Braixen and Scalds on the other two!!

-Being the one to actually be command his team, Delphox!Ren beats the Raichu to the punch as he waves his hand oven the ball of his cane as his eyes glow like live coals causing the ball of his cane to ignite. With a from-the-side upwards swipe, Ren swings his cane, hurling to blazing sun orb towards the ceiling and dispelling the Rain-

Ren: <Let them have it you two!>

Ren used Sunny Day! The rain stopped. The sunlight turned harsh! The sunlight is strong.

-With the rain gone, the Tunder's accuracy drops and allows Shantotto to use her staff-like stick to pole vault away from the electric blast and the Sun nerfing the scalds which Ren and Kitsune tank easily.-

Kitsune: -as her Fire gem sparks as it grants her energy as she plots to    scorch    her opponents- <I was hoping you'd say that!>

Shantotto: -as her Fire gem sparks as it grants her energy- <With the power we have just been granted, the odds against you are more than slanted.>

-The two female foxes unleash two HUGE waves of scorching heat. Kitsune's attack immediately dropping the Raichu and along with Shantotto's secondary heat wave, faints the Ludicolo. The Politoed -which apparently has been raised for defense- is standing by itself and in the red.-

Politoed: <Ooooowch...>

Lumen: -ecstatic- Yuuuus!

Ren: ~Lumen. Remember what I said to do in these situations?~

Lumen: -calming down a bit- ~All right...~

-Out loud- In the spirit of not want to hurt your partners, I'm offering a chance for you to retire.

Ace trainer: As if!

Lumen: ~Well I tried.~

Ren: ~Indeed you did. So that means...~

Lumen: Solar Beam!

-Shantotto start to charge her staff-

Ace trainer: Rain Dance!

-The Politoed does a jaunty little jig.-

Politoed used Rain Dance! The sunlight faded. It started to rain! Rain continues to fall.

-He chuckles.-

-Gui skips into the room, notices Dane, and stands more seriously. Zeal hands her the glass of water.-

-Dane chuckles, stands up, and holds out a hand.-

Dane: I'm Dane Knox. It's a pleasure to meet you.

-Gui shakes his hand weakly.-

Dane: And you are?

Gui: ...Gui...

-Zeal looks at Gui oddly for a moment, then turns back to Dane.-

Zeal: Any news on Uncle Calvin's whereabouts since last time?

-Dane sighs.-

Dane: I'm afraid not. The board thinks we've gone far too long without an actual CEO by now, and there's talk of putting me in the position.

-He laughs halfheartedly.-

Zeal: Well, that's a positive, at least, right?

Dane: Well... yes and no. This may sound a bit odd to you, but I'm not very fond of being at the very top. I find I'm much more capable when I'm just a step away.

-He laughs, walks to a nearby hanger, and grabs a coat and scarf.-

Dane: In any case, I'm sorry I have to cut this short, but it seems I can't be much of a help today anyway. Do feel free to visit again on a day when I have more time available.

Zeal: Right, I'll do that.

-Dane chuckles and leaves the office. Zeal and Gui follow him out and he locks the door behind him. Zeal and Gui exit the building, and Zeal turns to Gui.-

Zeal: So what was that about back there? "Try to be more serious" doesn't mean the same thing as "don't talk".

Gui: That guy isn't trustworthy. Nope. Nuh-uh. Not at all. Not even in the slightest. I'm a Latias, so you can be confident I'm right about this. Yep.

-Gui starts to walk back the way they came, and Zeal takes a moment to let what she said sink in before following.-
