-Herbert fills the awkward silence with a cough.-

Herbert: I think I'd better get to challenging the League now. So... yeah. I'll be going and doing that.

Jacob: "................. Good luck Herbert!" -Waves-

"................. So... wonderful weather we're having?"

-Zeal puts his laptop away and walks elsewhere, possibly passing someone on the way. He is still wearing sunglasses.-

Breeze: <Good luck!>

-Herbert gives an awkward nod at Jacob, Eskay and Breeze.-

Herbert: Thanks, guys. I get the feeling I'm going to need it...

-He hesitates slightly, then walks through the entrance to the Elite Four chamber.-

"Yeah. Maybe." said Lyuri

N's Room

"<Well, I suppose we could go back, this was a... Interesting trip.>" said Seth, still keeping a straight face.

-Meanwhile, everyone is watching Herbert's challenge-

Maggie: "Alright. Tell us once you find anything out."

Unova League, Central Chamber

-Herbert, still breathing deeply, walks into the main room, trying to ignore the fact that the entrance has sealed behind him. He kneels down in front of the statue, and reads the inscription on it.-

Herbert: "To the southeast is one who channels the power of the Fighting type"? Arceus, they couldn't have made this sound more pretentious if they tried... still, I guess that's where I'm going first.

Unova League, Marshal's Room

-Herbert steps through the archway, and looks up at the stairs leading to Marshal's platform, the cage enclosing it swinging open as he watches.-

Herbert: ...Keep it together. You haven't come this far just to freak out at the sight of some stairs.

-He sighs and makes his way up the stairs, stepping onto the incomplete platform. He looks around confusedly, only to see the other half descend from the ceiling and slam down in front of him. As Marshal steps down from the platform, the lights flash on, blinding Herbert for a minute as his opponent approaches.-

Herbert: Well, somebody's a showman.

Marshal: Greetings, challenger. I am Marshal, of the Unova Elite 4, and Alder's best and brightest pupil. Over the years, me and my Pokemon have trained to become masters of fighting. And now you are walking a similar path with your Pokemon. Tell me, why are you here?

Herbert: Huh?

Marshal: You desire strength, do you not? I can feel it. Feel the strength radiating from you and your Pokemon. But are you strong enough to battle the champion, and prove yourself to be one of the best in Unova? That it what I am here to decide. But first, tell me why you desire this strength. What has driven you to come this far?

Herbert: Well, it's... I want to prove myself. To prove that I'm just as good as all the others.

Marshal: You sound uncertain.

Herbert: Look, are you here to battle me, or give me a philosophy lecture?

Marshal: Very well. I am here to test you. To see if you are ready to face the champion. Get ready to be taken to the limits of your strength! Kiai!
