Hello, how are you? Fain, sankyuu~.

TODAY'S SERMON: The times that Jesus is called angry in the Bible.
There was a man who had a withered hand, and the people in the synagogue just sat and watched, waiting for him to heal the cripple's hand. Jesus was greatly irked by how heartless the people were towards the deformed man, and was, naturally, angry.
Also mentioned was the thing with the money changers and traders and such getting kicked out of the synagogue by Jesus, when he flipped tables upside down and chased people out with a whip.
The focus of the sermon was that we should never forget why we come to church: to worship God. Gathering there in his name for reasons other than him is the one thing that is shown to make Jesus visibly angry in the Bible.
My pastor mentioned how sometimes churches focus on the gospel, but forget to love, and vice versa. To the media it often looks like one or the other. And that's terrible.
Anyone else care to post their most recent sermon?
You can also listen to sermons from my church here! Tada~!

Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! ~ GODOur service was about love, of course.

Yes, by the way, one could say that the focus of the sermon was mostly primarily love. Jesus was pretty annoyed by the folk who were blind to the deformed man.

Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! ~ GODFine, thanks. Nice to see some brothers loud and proud.
Christian, otaku, and from Michigan, Anonym? We just might know each other in Real Life.
Heheh, that's pretty nifty.
Now... do you take martial arts?
Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! ~ GODI think the things mostly tested where rather big things like battles and mass migrations. I don't think any archeologist has tried to prove, say, King David didn't exist or something.
More that if some of "larger" (logistically speaking, that is) events took place, the dates in locations in the Bible are a tad off.
Though, I haven't dug to deeply into the matter and it maybe also translation error, etc...
The link I posted sort of offhandedly mentioned that some things had also been more or less confirmed by archeology, I'm not really sure which parts are "questioned" and which parts are "confirmed" by archeology. Historical verification of the OT/Tanakh has not really been anything I've looked at in great detail.

I really should check Troper Covens more frequently.
I said much the same thing myself. Didn't think there'd be this many here.
Happiness is zero-gee with a sinus cold. This place is positively swarming with catholics. Who knew?
Be not afraid...Non-denominational here! Good to see that this thread got some attention.
Out of curiosity, can any Protestant tropers identify if they have anything leaning more towards non-Biblical mythology sort of like Saints, Angels, or Demonology?
It's been forever since I've been to church, and I don't remember much except stories always coming out of the Bible save the odd story that was lacking in any awesome Saints, Angels, or odd demon that's also an ambassador to some European country.
Some of the demonolgy stuff is newer than Protestantism, so that has my curious as well.
Justice is a joy to the godly, but it terrifies evildoers.Proverbs21:15 FimFiction account.Well, Catholicism is the largest denomination of Christianity so it makes sense that there would be more Catholics here than other Christian groups.
^^ Frank E. Peretti books are tinged with it, sort of.

Happiness is zero-gee with a sinus cold.@Justice: Well, there's the legend that Martin Luther escaped the Devil by throwing ink at him. Based on that, I've decided that in myth Martin Luther is an octopus.
“Love is the eternal law whereby the universe was created and is ruled.” — St. BernardI don’t know if the myth that the Protestant movement was started by an anthropomorphic octopus trumps centuries of saint, angel, and demon myths, but it certainly is a contender.

With the power of a dragon I can make up for my inability to spill.^ Most Christians are like that on these boards anyway, which is very reassuring.
"Without a fairy, you're not even a real man!" ~ Mido from Ocarina of TimeI cannot help but find a certain flavor of irony in your misspelling of "Christian writer".
