Bumping this since I just discovered this trope and its obtuse name.
Accuse the Witness / Accusing The Witness sounds good.
Yes, rename to Accuse the Witness.
I strongly dislike this name, so I want to rename it. And it only has 19 wicks/19 inbounds, so I say, sweet, let's do this thing.
Rhymes with "Protracted."Wait! What about The Perry Mason Method, as mentioned earlier by Madrugada? (And by this, I mean the fact that it ALSO means "accuse the witness"?)
I can see an argument for making a distinction between the two: Perry Mason usually called the witness for the sole purpose of accusing them, having deduced their culpability, while The Practice usually did it as a straight-out tactic, not knowing or even caring if the witness actually did it or not. But is that too fine a distinction (or at least, is it a distinction that will allow tropers to remember which is which)?
Maybe we should just merge the two, perhaps under the Accuse the Witness name?

The Perry Mason Method involves, and I quote, "[badgering] a confession out of a witness on the stand in the courtroom." Getting witness to confess to a crime on the stand is not the same thing as outright accusing the witness of being the perpetrator.
Not that the name Accuse the Witness would help with keeping them apart.
I Thought It Meant something to do with the B-movie Plan 9 From Outer Space. Yup, I'd say it needs a change.
I liked it better when Questionable Casting was called WTH Casting AgencyYeah, I have to agree with Accuse the Witness. It gets the point across. Plan B From Outer Space was a terrible name for this.
Agreed — Accuse the Witness seems like it'll cause too much confusion with The Perry Mason Method. Some sort of reference to reasonable doubt (which is the key distinction, seems to me) would probably be better, but I'm damned if I can think of one. :/
I mean, I can understand marrying Legolas, but Sauron? "Hi, this is my husband, the giant, evil, disembodied eye. Say 'Hi', honey."Anyway, there's several better suggestions here, so let's just choose one and rename it?
I'm down for merging too. They are pretty similar, and neither one has good performance. (The Perry Mason Method's wicks and inbounds are both sub-50.)
Rhymes with "Protracted."I apologize for taking so long, but there is now a page action crowner for this trope here. I think that we can switch to an alternative titles crowner pretty quickly if the rename option receives a lot of support early. If other people think that we can skip this crowner and go straight to alternative titles, I would be open to doing that as well.

Calling the crowner, 8 to 1 in favour of a rename.
Edit: Alt titles crowner made and hooked.

Calling in favor of Accuse the Witness.
Page moved, wicks moved, laconic moved, and I folderized it while I was at it. We should be done here.
Rhymes with "Protracted."
Crown Description:
What would be the best way to fix the page?
I'll agree with Accusing The Witness. Plan B From Outer Space is rather amusing, but very nonindicative.
