This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules - tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

I liked Felicia's ineffectual attempt at being Big Bad, but it's going to be hard to come back to.
- PETER: Man, that was one crazy cross-dimensional adventure we just had. Every Spider-Man ever and an entire family of magic vampires plotting our demise. Giant robots, alternate universe clones, even Ock was there!
- FELICIA: Spider-Man! I will make you suffer for knocking out my tooth that one time!
- PETER: Goddammit, are you still on about that?
We'll see after Secret Wars I guess. What is it that you liked about it exactly?

The fact that she's not very good at it. I don't know, maybe I'm wrong, but I don't get the feeling we're meant to actually take this seriously - that she's actually going to be Spidey's new GREATEST ARCHNEMESIS ala the Green Goblin, the Kingpin, Venom, or Doc Ock.
She's just lashing out because she feels betrayed and is too emotionally involved in said betrayal to listen to reason. Give her some time, she's going to calm down and realize she's been acting like an idiot.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.I guess that makes sense particularly the part about not being meant to be taken seriously. More than her not knowing it wasn't Spider-Man I don't get how her identity being public knowledge was such a big deal when it has always been known (an issue of Charles Soule's She-Hulk even has a reference to Evil That Men Do). We'll see how it turns out I guess.
Going by the Derailing Love Interests page it would seem this is far from the first time she's been hit with the "psycho ex" stick. One time she apparently burned down her own house(!!!!!!!) to force Peter to let her move in with him.
She tends to be written badly.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThis is why we need a better writer. Say 3 writers who has never written Spider-Man in more than a event before who should get the chance to write him for a year.
Felipe Smith, Jen Van Meter, Simon Spurrier. Any one of them would do a great job, I think.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics. It basically boils down to Bitches be crazy. Amirite fellas?
That's basically the reason Scarlet Witch is easily forgiven for genocide.
My various fanfics. While I like Slott, I'll admit his handling of women can be iffy. Which is weird as he wrote an excellent (and sex-positive!) She-Hulk.
If Superboy Prime had boobs, fandom would have forgiven him everything eventually.
Last time I saw Scarlet Witch in a thing she kept getting not forgiven for that. Then again, it was Remender writing.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersLess about bitches and more about Felicia, specifically. Stability has never been a strength of hers, but neither has prosecution. Give her a month in-universe and she'll cool off, decide she's a superhero again, and be held accountable for approximately zero percent of her crimes.
Felicia has a Get Out Of Jail Free Card. She's let off the hook for any crimes she commits because she's Felicia Hardy. Hell, the reason she's upset is because SpOck didn't validate it.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3."It was a Skrull. Or Axis. Whichever sounds more believable."
Forever liveblogging the AvengersIt was a good Skrull inverted by AXIS.
Previous Appearance:
She fed the brainwasher to an escalator. It was unexpectedly gruesome. Also◊, her minions had terrible haircuts.
Who gave Kate a rocket launcher?

The thing is she was kind of growing out of this pre-OMD, so she's suffering the same 'one step forward, two steps back' problem Peter is often subjected to. Yeah you could point to some moments were she went off the rails but that also means ignoring 30= years of character development. That's really what's frustrating for a lot of people. Also, Nick Lowe seems pretty adamant she's bad permanently.

Also, I think she actually is supposed to be seen as pretty competent at what she's doing. She and Electro beat Spider-Man in that TV studio and even unmasked him. When she learned that other criminals refused to work with Electro, she set up a situation that almost led to him blowing up and taking a lot of people, including Spider-Man, with him, and even that failure did arguably hurt the reputation of Parker Industries at least a little. And Electro's near-death at least let her cut ties with him, so she could get more criminals on her side.
I don't think this is intended as a "look how bad she is at being a villain." I think this is intended as "look how good she is at being a villain."
Either way, it's bullshit character assassination. She is not that petty, and she hasn't been in a long, long time. But every single bit of character development she's had in 30 years has been tossed right out the window.
I really hope Dan Slott finishes his Amazing Spider-Man run soon. The book has been mediocre since Superior ended. Honestly, Spider-Verse should've been his Swan Song. All the Spider-Men throughout the multiverse getting together? That's the Final Act. That's the Climax. All that's left after that is the falling action and resolution.
So it's time for him to leave. Let someone else have a chance. Might I recommend Jen Van Meter? She knows how to write romance, and that's a pretty key aspect of Spider-Man. She also writes some solid comedy, and she can write fairly good action. She'd do a solid job on the book. I think she'd be an inspired choice to take over Amazing Spider-Man.
Won't happen, of course. But a guy can dream.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics. From what I hear, Slott has stories planned up through 2016, and possibly slightly beyond that. There's still a chance he could just start co-writing more or other writers can work on his stories, but for the time being we're stuck with him
I thought his run was terrible before Superior started and was even worse during Superior. I never bought into the hype surrounding that crap at all.
Had decent tie-in material though.
Same with Spider-Verse. I find It's not very good or well thought-out at all, but the tie-in stuff is good
Back to fun Spidey comics....Just been reading the climax to the Mysterio arc over in the newspaper strip...pre-recorded Skype chat is one way to preserve your i.d Petey, but Mysterio's not convinced yet.

I've found his run hit or miss. Stuff like Spider-Island was definitely a high point and the aftermath of Marla Jameson's Death was handled really well.
Superior was ok, but it had massive Fridge Logic issues.
I like Spider-Island for pretty much being the "anti-BND" story, I do think it was too absurd on several levels. Superior was just terrible though, for reasons you state, and for being a cast-wide case of What An Idiot
With Black Cat, I really think Slott should have been allowed to use (and "kill") her in "Ends of the Earth" like he wanted.

I found this when I looked up Spider-Man and karaoke.
