Well, high my fellow Tropers! A story idea I've had floating around in my head for a while is that of a fantasy world that has broken out of Medieval Stasis, and actually advanced, now here's my problem. Humans, have broken out of stasis and have relied on technology, and have brough themselves to about a..1950s ish level of technology? Basically, they have tanks, jets, asault rifles, etc. etc. No nukes though. However, the elven population has relied on magic for its level of progress, so, in a sense staying in Medieval Stasis as far as technology goes, but they've developed their magical skills to effectively counter human technology.

My question to you, my fellow Tropers, is how can I create an elven military that still has the feel of a fantasy world, but can compete with a human army with that level of technology? Note, I want to avoid Magitek as much as I can, but I wanted to be more orignial...some of the ideas I hade so far were bows that used magic to have the same range and lethality as bullets (think Archer Angels from RA 3) with anti-tank work handled by spears. Air support by enhanced dragons, etc. etc. However, if anyone has any better ideas, I'd love to hear them.

It's hard to comment if we don't know the limits of this magic. What's stopping the elves from just creating forcefields?

I think military technology would develop differently if it had to be used against magic rather than against other technology.

It probably would, and I'm definitely considering that with my plans.
