Yes. The much-loved musical, that has so much promise as an epic fantasy motion picture, animated or otherwise, under Disney or not, that will bring fortune and prosperity to whatever studio and company picks it up........... will be a mini-series on ABC?

I think we're witnessing a letdown after a decade of wishing.

There aren't going to be any songs. It's not the musical. It's the book. The book sucked. I don't like this.

I'll end up watching every episode anyway.

I loved the musical and liked the book.

It's just amusing to me, seeing all the studios waste all that potential money on something we can watch for free.

Explain. Do you mean the mental images while reading the book? That still costs some money.

ABC is a public access channel, right? That's what they mean.

I could've watched Popular from my own home. Why the book?

Because someone at ABC wants people to take this seriously. Or they're trying to copy Flash Forward, V, Kings, Battlestar Galactica et al., only with a green chick in it.

Except almost everyone that knows of Wicked knows of the musical. If it's not the musical they won't care.

Hell they could have gotten Menzel and Chenoweth! Seeing how ABC did Pushing Daisies which had Chenoweth we know she would have been in!

That can't be! Hayek was the producer of Ugly Betty. Ugly Betty mentioned the Wicked musical a couple of times.

You know what this smells like to me? A desperate attempt to be taken seriously by Hayek as a producer, at the expense of the fanbase.

But... but.. why would she do that?! Not only would it actually ruin her career but tons of people loved Ugly Betty. It lasted from 2006-2010 after all.

Yeah. Wouldn't making an adaptation of the MUSICAL instead of the BOOK make her more respected?

I dunno, might be pretty cool.

I mean, I think that the source material itself - I only read some of it, and I think it would make an awful film. I can't imagine it'll do much better as a miniseries (thinks of Dinotopia *shudders and weeps*). But it might still look cool.

It's only a matter of time until the film of the musical.
