So EA turned what should have been an awesome sequel into what should be a spinoff?

I only shudder to think what will happen to PopCap's other series.

Hopefully they won't touch Insaniquarium, the spiritual predecesor to PvZ and my 2nd favorite PopCap game.

Hey guys, questions about buying:

  1. I have 36,000. What should I invest on? So far I finished the Adventure mode.

  2. In the Zen Garden, the flowers keep showing the Record player sign. Is that thing worth 15,000?

[up]I'd prioritize getting the bonus plants over everything. The Zen Garden is just a side thing that you can safely ignore.

Actually, the Zen Garden is a good source of money, so it's not something to just ignore. smile

The Zen Garden is honestly a little too Zen for me. I got most of my upgrade money from playing minigames.

This "faculty lot" you speak of sounds like a place of great power...

So I finished all the minigames, puzzles, survival, whatnot and got myself the golden statue. Aww yeah.

Yeah, all the side games are great source of protein money. I have like 60k now, and that's after buying at least 40~50k worth of stuff.

Oh, and Cattail. Worth. Every. Penny.

So, I've started playing the first game recently. I like how, when it introduces a new zombie type, they're really annoying to deal with, but upon beating that level you get a plant to counter that zombie. For example, getting Tall-nuts after the first level with dolphins, and getting Spikeweed after the first level with Zombonis.

Also, I've almost done everything in I, Zombie. I just need to get a 10-streak in endless, and screw the following:

  • Magnet-shrooms
  • The little umbrella guys that block Bungee Zombies
  • Any time there's a chomper behind another chomper.
  • Kernel-pults

Never before has butter been more threatening.

Basically, look for a weak point in one row. If you can send a zombie to clear that row without much trouble, or get rid of a certain plant, do it. Just make sure to pay attention to any adjacent rows for plants that can still attack your zombies. Remember, potato mines can still explode on your digger zombies.

I know you probably learned this by experience by now, but digger zombies can eat them from behind no problem, although if there is a backward firing pea shooter on the way, it could be problematic.

Unless it's protected by the canopy thing, use Bungee Zombie to get rid of the Magnet Shroom as soon as possible: once you did that, unless there are more than two freezing type (the Ice Pea and Kernel-pult) in the same row and there are one hit killer (Squasher, Mines, and Chompers, which you should get rid of by throwing the cheapest zombies at them, just one buckethead will steamroll through everything. It's far cheaper to use one buckethead than to use two coneheads.

[up][up]I seem to forget that a lot, only to remember that when my digger blows up.

But, I'll keep trying. I know to go for weaker rows first, especially if there's a Sunflower in them... and I'll also remember to send Imps in to be sacrificial lambs. How odd that Squash are the least of my worries. Thanks for the advice!

[up]Thanks for the tips! I learned the hard way that coneheads are barely more durable than a normal zombie. I also found that diggers can take out Split Peas no problem if there's only one in the very back of the row. Even then, it's just barely in time, so Spikeweed can still mess you up.

Remember that imps can survive one spikeweed, as long as it isn't next to a Tall nut or a plant with a huge hitbox.

Unfortunately, I Zombie is just luck. But with good planning, you can minimize the amount of bad luck. Good luck trying to go for that achievement. It's a doozy.

Dancer Zombies are best for clearing out one safe row, but you need expendable zombies for the adjacent rows, and there's no cheaper option. It's also a great panic button in certain situations.

So I earned myself 82,000 now.

Say, would it be worth it to buy a 10th slot, which costs just 80k?

Okay, this is complete BS.

The Random Number Gods decide when butter is getting thrown and when it isn't. You guys weren't kidding when you said I, Zombie Endless was entirely luck-based.

Yeah, that's mostly the reason I don't use the kernel flinger. I don't like relying on luck.

Even if I didn't like the Kernel-pult, I would admit that it's worth it for the Cob Cannon.

They're pretty annoying though. You need more "set up plants" in those levels than any other ones.

I never had much trouble with JIBZ, except during few times in the vasebreaker level.

Speaking of which, when I first played Vasebreaker Endless, I had no idea that it wasn't supposed to have any limit; I played all the way up to 11th streak, and I was like "Holy fuck, how many more times do I have to play?!" I actually stopped there because I got too exhausted. [lol]

Four butters in a row.

FOUR.

BUTTERS.

ON SPIKEWEED.

I'm going to start using Diggers in any row with Kernel-pults, I've learned my lesson.

I bought and used the cob-cannon. So far it proved to be Awesome, but Impractical, as it not only costs too much and takes too much space, it also reloads slowly as hell.

[up][up]Some modes really do require that much firepower (it's like having unlimited Cherry Bombs). Try going into Hard Roof Survival with them in mind. I don't think you'll regret it (no amount of butter can drop a string of Gargantuars quite as well).
