TvTropes Tea Drinkers (TTTD):

1 Ian Ex Machina, Sat, 15th Jan '11 1:08:23 PM from Gone with the Chickens

I quite recently have started to get 'into' tea after not really enjoying it over childhood and I have to say developed a strong liking of it.

After trying lots of different varieties/flavours I've decided I'll drink most of them but I prefer white tea, with milk and no sugar. (From Clipper)

So any other tropers like tea; the best hot drink in the world?

I am fuelled by tea. Because I'm British.

Mine's also white, no sugar. Put the kettle on!

See now I've started to drink tea, I feel fuelled by it too, which is fitting as I'm also British.

For not starting sooner I blame my primary school's Victorian trip, apparently Victorian kids drank cold tea when at school so we had to as well for the trip. It tasted foul, probably not helped by it being Tesco value teabags.

Anyhoo now I love it, and have actually got the kettle on (1am tea!)

That is the best kind of tea!

I once drank 7 cups in 4 hours because I was desperately trying to do some reading for a project and it just wasn't going into my head. The cure for this? Tea! So much tea. Being in church helps as well. If the Anglican Church ran out of tea, it would collapse even quicker than it is already.

I've been drinking tea for eleven years ever since I moved to Egypt and went to a British school. I love the stuff, hibiscus and chai tea being my favorites, but I like a lot of the fruity tears in general. Earl gray tends to smell fantastic.

Mmm chai tea is nice, but I'd tend to only have it for evenings or relaxing. Couldn't have it as an everyday brew.

Love the stuff. I usually drink some kind of green tea, but lately have been adding this weird matcha powder to it on the off chance it is as healthy as they say.

I too drink tea. I do love mine in the form of iced tea with the right amount of sugar and lemon. I also drink plain green tea on occasions.

Matcha powder?

I love tea.

Just the tiniest splash of milk and a sugar and a half does me fine.

I also love green teas. White tea is lovely and so is spiced pear tea, but gunpowder tea is probably my favourite green tea.

Rooibos is delicious too.

Oh My
I drink lots of tea and started it when moving to West Hollywood. Mom's ex was very big on tea. I have found that I am most partial to genmaicha a sort of green tea mixed with roasted brown rice. It has a very nice flavor to it. I also really like Chai Spice though preparing it with bags is not in any form recommended. To get it tasting anywhere near right you have to boil a shit ton of bags in a pot of milk. Recently I've come to like mint teas as well.

Most of my tea I drink unsweetened and without cream of any sort. Save Chai Spice. That needs milk and sugar. Sometimes I make a simple tea latte called London Fog that involves Earl Grey, warm milk, vanilla syrup, and sugar.

My iced teas I prefer sweetened and with milk. They're like desserts and I like it that way though I also spend many long hours searching for unsweetened iced teas. Sometimes I want a nice simple thing not filled with honey ginseng mint hooblygook.

I found porn!
I got into tea when someone gave my dad a japanese cast-iron teapot and a TON of Marriage Freres teas. My love for it blossomed when I spent a year in Germany with a real tea house 15 minutes away from where I lived.

Now I'm back in Mexico and distraught. There are some tea houses here, but their selection is limited to one for each type (black, green, white, etc.). I'm addicted to darjeelings and the best I can get is a 2nd flush Margaret's Hope.

I miss my Risheehat =(

I love green tea. And apple spice tea, which tastes like apple cider.

Where has this coven been all my life? I love all forms of tea, though I'm too poor to afford any but the cheapest brands and varieties.

I wish I had more money so I could indulge in fancy pants high quality teas and escape the cheap and amazingly convenient but not so awesome varieties I use.

yerba mate works, too. It's cheaper than crystal meth, and lets you keep your teeth

Ooh. This yerba mate is something I haven't had yet...I'll need to look into it.

And yes there are few things as lovely as a good strong cup of sencha.

I like any kind of tea, never with milk or sugar or any other additive, and as strong as possible. As far as I'm concerned, you're never supposed to take the teabag out of your cup until you've drank it all. That's also probably what stained my teeth.

Yeah I leave my tea bags in there the whole time...I occasionally forget about my tea and I go back to drink it only to find something incredibly strong and cool. I want it that strong when it's hot dammit...

Being British this talk of "Sencha Makoto" passes no muster.
Earl Grey is ok, smells great however I haven't drunk enough to form a real opinion.

Try a London Fog sometime. Those can be nice. You will need...some Earl Grey, milk, water, vanilla syrup. Boil some water and let a bag of Earl Grey steep for 2-4 minutes. Warm up some milk preferably with a steamer. Add milk to your Earl Grey along with the syrup. You can adjust the amounts and steeping time to taste...

  • 16 oz of milk. (2% or whole)
  • 1 shot of vanilla syrup per 16 oz of milk
  • 1 bag of Earl Grey tea

These are the basic amounts though.

I personally prefer my Earl Grey just nice and plain, but these can be lovely. Other teas can be used as well. It's one of my favorite black teas. My true favorite is Irish Breakfast.

... I need to learn how to make a Cinnamon dulce tea latte. Cause those are freaking tasty from the coffeeshop. I'm addicted to those things. I'm about 80% sure I need a black tea for it. Not positive cause i couldn't read the little canister >_<
