That already failed. See the crowner.
Edit PS: Oh, I see what you are saying. You are making a distinction between cuting the page and turning it into a redirect. That distinction should have been made on the oriignal crowner.
I think we need a new crowner with more options.

Which options? Cutting was already defeated, and if it's redirecting vs. nothing, we might as well use another Single Proposition crowner.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWhat about renaming it to something more neutral in tone?
Americanized Adaptation perhaps.
Rename or redirect? Do we need a page action to determine this?
Welcome To TV Tropes | How To Write An Example | Text-Formatting Rules | List Of Shows That Need Summary | TV Tropes Forum | Know The StaffI think that Americanitis is simply Cultural Translation for America, but if there is opposition, we may run another Single Prop (Or Page Action) crowner.
Thanks for the crowner-making.

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanPage action hooked; add other options/modify as needed.
Welcome To TV Tropes | How To Write An Example | Text-Formatting Rules | List Of Shows That Need Summary | TV Tropes Forum | Know The StaffPeople using it to complain about shows they don't like. People using everything to complain about shows they don't like, didn't you notice yet?
The second paragraph in the description says "A specific variant of Cultural Translation". But the first states it's a full-on Foreign Remake.
As to whether it should be a split section - perhaps this variety known best to most of tropers, and Hollywood may or may not put the most effort into this, so it goes just for having most examples.
...And even I make no pretense Of having more than common sense - R.W.WoodJust read through all four pages. Seems an easy call to make the name redirect to Cultural Translation and reorganize the examples appropriately.
So it's not a Foreign Remake?
...And even I make no pretense Of having more than common sense - R.W.WoodYou're right, it is Foreign Remake.
Cultural Translation is about dubbing. Anyone mind if we change the crowner to say Foreign Remake instead of Cultural Translation?

Calling crowner.
I didn't write any of that.I've turned Americanitis into a redirect to Cultural Translation, but there are also the wicks to clean up. I've saved the old examples on Sandbox.Americanitis.
Also, methinks that it was an error to copy Quotes.Americanitis over to Quotes.Cultural Translation.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanOnly problem is that Americanitis has nothing at all to do with Cultural Translation.
Sandbox.Americanitis is about copying the premise of a non-American show in making a new show. Like having an American version of The Office which is a completly different show from the British version.
Cultural Translation is about dubbing shows, not making new shows.
"When a show is redubbed for release in another country, the dubbers often will replace the cultural references with others more easily recognized by the foreign audience."

One last bump, for resolution. I've cleaned out the wicks, poiting them at other tropes if necessary, and there are only two things to do here:
- What do we do with Sandbox.Americanitis
- If we should point Americanitis to Foreign Remake.
If no answers are given, we can probably close this.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanIt's four days out and no answer to these questions. I'll request a lock here.

Crown Description:
Americanitis is mired down in Complaining and may duplicate Cultural Translation. Cut it?
I'd rather say redirect it to Cultural Translation.
