Either it's one big crazy coincidence, or Capcom is really running out of ideas....

I like it's tail though...

Well, they ripped off Dynasty Warriors (or rather Samurai Warriors) before...

Near as I can tell, the Clover Studios people are the only creative talent left from what used to be Capcom.

I'm not all too fond of those who rag on games for just copying others instead of looking at its own merits but that was awfully shameless.

I'm sure it will be fine but I don't really care.

Wow, I was expecting this to be blowing things out of proportion. But, no, that's a pretty shameless steal. The question is whether Splosion Man's devs are willing to sue

Splosion Man Devs don't have the money to sue.

Looking at the two games, I'm not seeing Capcom's game as that much of a ripoff compared to Splosion Man, at least compared to Platform Games in similar subgenres, like the Metroidvania or the Mascot with Attitude Platformer.

This is pretty evident in the existence of Explodemon during the same time period as Splosion Man that "Platformer Where Your Character Explodes" was going to be a subgenre.

Meh.

This is nothing new. Developers have been copying other games and releasing them for iOS devices ever since they were released. And as long as they aren't plagiarizing or directly competing with the original product, why care?

OP: No. As long as Capcom didn't directly copy or recreate Splosion Man's assets, there is nothing they can do about it.

This isn't the first time a major video-gaming studio has done it either. Nintendo obviously ripped off Mega Man with Metroid, with the only added elements being maze-like levels and the character's gender.

[up][up] Actually they ripped Megaman off with Zelda, they only changed the scenario, the story, the gameplay and the graphics so that nobody would notice it.

At first glance I thought Splosion man was just a game based around a power from Kirby 64, are we really going to sell Capcom short?

Oh who am I kidding? Tts in the name, they didn't even try to cover it up.
