But you can only run the test by applying it to specific cases. It's not some broad statistical test that can be applied to a large population without regard to individual cases; it has to be applied film by film.
Plus, idiots do apply it to individual cases, and draw conclusions from that.
It started out as a good joke, and has become a bad joke.
= Spindriver =Okay, maybe saying it shouldn't be applied in individual cases was badly spoken of me. It is not technically true as you do, indeed, need to apply individually in a case by case scenario. The conclusions, however, only can be driven from the collective. And the conclusion is what a test is about. In the individual the Bachel Test is meaningless, but in the whole, it is not.
Sure, idiots draw conclusions on individual cases and that sucks, I agree. What I am saying is that other people dismiss the whole test because of said idiots and that is also shit. Don't reduce it to a bad joke. It is as obnoxious as making it the ultimate test of feminism.
PS:You can still use the Bachel test to analyses individual works if you want. But more as a stepping stone than as a definitive answer. If you are looking on individual works, simply noting if it fails or passes is not enough. You would need to look deeper.

Do I have to point out that it was created as a joke?
= Spindriver =No. But something that was created as a joke doesn't mean it is only a joke and that it wasn't meant to be thought critically.
The original joke was about criticizing the obvious lack of representation of women on media. The punchline is that there is less movies than you would expect that passes the test. Making a joke about how useless that test is is a completely different thing.
New comics are up, by the way. SotR has an obvious volume-starter, Ma3 has a particular plot thread set explicitly in motion.

= Spindriver =Actual link to SOTR. Ma3 is NSFW atm.
Zoe is an infinitely better boss and character than Domenico.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyDillon responds to these awkward years by never being afraid again, resulting in him becoming The Unfettered, at least sexuality wise.
I don't mind that strip at all, so long as it's just setting up for something interesting in the present. The implied back-story is such a massive cliche that we really, really don't need another frame of it.
Oh yeah, and there's also Sandra on the Rocks goes Odd Couple.

= Spindriver =Hunh? You mean the character Young!Dillon calls "Ray"?
Creed of the Happy Pessimist:Always expect the worst. Then, when it happens, it was only what you expected. All else is a happy surprise.Yes, presumably that's his name.
Effectively safe for work, but barely. I forgot Didi dated Erik. She also seems to remember names now.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyShe's always remembered names, more or less. Her problem was tying them to faces.
Plus, having her remember the names now sets up this gag.
= Spindriver =Character names becoming keywords doesn't automatically imply plot importance, by the way. There are multiple names on the keyword list for Ma3 with only one appearance each. I suspect it's just future-proofing, in case the writers decide to re-use the character later.
= Spindriver =Heh, Jung only has one. I wonder what may happen to these people.
There were cases before they future proofed that they went back and added to.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyJunghan, on the other hand, has 34. And not everyone on that list is people. One or two of those tags were downright frivolous, even.
= Spindriver =New Ma3 strip, SFW because head and shoulders only. Physician, heal thyself - and maybe do something about that bi-curiosity.
= Spindriver =Poor Kiley. She seems poised to bite off more than she can chew, doesn't she?
... Then again, maybe she already did back when she decided to use Yuki as a guinea pig for her psychology paper.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. She's a classic Mood-Swinger. She tends to flip between wild overconfidence and panic.
= Spindriver =In the second panel it looks like she's turned into Dillon with glasses.
Fresh-eyed movie blogThat's what's happening. She's turning into Dillon in her dream.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyThought so.
Oh, and then the positions are weird when she wakes upup because she's actually acting out the other part.

Again, it is not supposed to be applied to specific cases. That is not what the test proves. But the test is useful to underline a trend.
