Me and my brother were talking about, if Madoka Magica was in a simulation. The incubators just have some way of getting witch/wraith energy out.
This makes the story more of a cosmic horror for everyone involved. Kyubey doesn't care about Earth dying, because he has spares, possibly he could just load up the last save file. This seems like something he would have let slip in that scene though.
Meanwhile Madoka and Homura are something that escaped their simulation and became cosmic principles in the foundational universe. And at least in the former universe the incubators don't even know anything changed, because in both cases it has now always been this way.
Going all Matrix on the setting eh?
I mean, they did touch on that idea with Homura's Witch Barrier in Rebellion.
Supermerlin referred to it as cosmic horror, so think he means that Madoka and others actually are a part of the simulation, not people trapped in one. Intelligent life in the simulation can develop souls and they can drain the energy out of the simulation. Meaning that if life is wiped out in the simulation due to something like Gretchen, they can reset it and they probably have more than one simulation anyways.
The fact that two different magical girls broke out of the simulation under their own power would be the reason Kyubey freaked out about Homura taking over in the rebellion movie.
When life gives you lemons, burn life's house down with the lemons.Madoka is a cosmic horror story although that also means that Kyubey is trapped with in its own system as well. One of the themes of cosmic horror is how everyone including the cosmic horror in question are trapped within the same system.
"We are just like Irregular Data. And that applies to you too, Ri CO. And as for you, Player... your job is to correct Irregular Data."Someone did a height chart of both the main cast and the minor/supporting characters. Not sure how accurate it is, but if it is accurate then wow, almost all of them are really short.

they are in middle school, after all.

"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeYes, but even the teacher is short too. In fact if the chart is accurate she's shorter then almost everyone else except for Madoka, her brother and Kyueby {The latter's attempts at cheating notwithstanding}.
People in Japan (East Asia in general, really) are, on average, short.

PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyIndeed. The characters are short despite the fact they seem taller in the show.
"We are just like Irregular Data. And that applies to you too, Ri CO. And as for you, Player... your job is to correct Irregular Data."OTOH Kyousuke is super tall for, like, a 13 year old.
Song of the SirensHe is tall but then again he is about average for teen in the West at least.
"We are just like Irregular Data. And that applies to you too, Ri CO. And as for you, Player... your job is to correct Irregular Data."I once had an idea for a funny/cute comic or fanfic where Kyoko pulls a Heel–Face Turn, but is in serious denial about it and constantly tries to justify her heroic actions with really fake "Selfish" and "Evil" reasons, which nobody falls for. Like for example saving a little kid from a Witch and then trying to be all like "Look, I only saved this kid so I could, uh, use her as Familiar Bait later on! It's not like I actually care about her or anything, dumbass!".
It's Madoka Kaname's birthday today!
She's an abstract concept and/or God, does she even have a birthday anymore?
Song of the SirensShe has a birthday again. Homura took care of that.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.To think, this would be how she'd celebrate her birthday today.◊

...No, I'm not crying. Why do you ask?
"Yup. That tasted purple."Madoka is a concept and she cannot enjoy anything drink or anything in the mortal plane anymore. I hope she can interact with other concepts like Lain.
"We are just like Irregular Data. And that applies to you too, Ri CO. And as for you, Player... your job is to correct Irregular Data."I have a question. Does anyone here play Magia Record?
Did it actually get an English release?
"Yup. That tasted purple."Not yet or better said, don't know. I'm holding off for the English release, but checking the game's story once in a while.

Having two Madoka's at her side sounds like a dream come true for Homura, but knowing her luck one of them will probably die a horrible death while the other one will Witch Out.
Say, guys, did we ever find out what Kyoko's dad actually preached? "Stuff that's not in the Bible" is pretty vague, but given the reaction he got before Kyoko made her wish, as well as the fact that he ended up doing some pretty horrendous things, I'm guessing it probably was something pretty radical.
Edited for clarity.

Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?It is vague but I don't believe it has something to with curriculum(?) and more do with what is being taught.

Can I just say that Homura is one of the most mentally screwed-up characters I have ever seen in a story? To quote the Tear Jerker page for Rebellion:
"What we still have here is a horribly lonely, mentally destroyed, suicidally self-hating and depressed train wreck of a girl who declared herself the devil because that's how she sees herself, and even worse, unlike Sayaka, couldn't find peace after death. By the movie's end, she's completely and utterly alone in a self-inflicted purgatory of self-loathing and fathomless, crushing guilt, and as far as she's concerned, she deserves it.
And even more so, she did it all for the sake of someone who had simply showed her a little kindness. This how broken she must have already been when it all started if she did it not even for a friend or a family member, but simply for the one person who was kind to her. And in the end, she is still doing it all for the same reason she made her wish, to stop that one person from sacrificing herself, because she doesn't want to lose that person, that bit of kindness she got, and now it's kindness she doesn't even think she's worthy of, making everything she did in the end pretty much completely pointless. Let that sink in, people: the friendship she sold her very soul for the sake of is now, as far as she's concerned, completely and irrevocably ruined."
I mean seriously. You could put her in the cast of Neon Genesis Evangelion, and you wouldn't be able to tell that she was from a different show.
