Marle isn't much for damage with her normal attacks, but Life 2 and Cure 2 are both great powers, Haste is a wonderful power until you start getting the Haste Helmets (which come very late in the game), and she's got some great Double Techs. Plus, Final Kick. Actually, Marle just generally works well for Triple Techs. And as for being useless when she runs out of MP, give her an item to halve her MP costs, get her to a high enough level, and "running out" ceases to be a problem. It's not like Ethers of all types are hard to come by, either.
I think Marle may be a little underrated.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.Haste makes waste
of enemies that is.
I remember getting into a long (for me, anywhos) argument on Game FA Qs over Haste's usefulness when compared to Haste Helms. Good times.
BTW, am I the only one who found it odd that Cure II (and other techs) was not renamed Cura in the DS release? A minor thing, but meh.
"What's out there? What's waiting for me?"I think it was a thematic choice. They probably just didn't want to rename Ice to Blizzard and Lightning to Thunder, because Lightningga and Icega would seem odd.
That, or they weren't sure whether to use -ra or -ga since the game only uses 2 levels of spells like that.
or, Square of America just wanted to differentiate the game from Final Fantasy.
re: Hate Helms. They're cool and all, but aren't Vigilant's Hats just a better idea? I mean, sure, give Magus a Haste Helm; he's got Schala's Pendent doing the job of a Vigilant's Hat, but otherwise...

I have a message from another time...In the Japanese version, Lightning was Thunder. Ice 2, Lightning 2, Fire 2, Water 2, and Cure 2 were called Icega, Thundaga, Firaga, Wataga, and Curaga.
And Luminare was just called Shining, so I'd say that's a change for the better.
Haste Helms have the benefit of giving Haste automatically. It doesn't require that Marle cast it individually. On the other hand, if you bring Marle in the party (as I almost always do), then it's not as important. If you don't have Marle, then Haste Helms are almost a must. Because Haste is an awesome power.

X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.Meh, Vigil Hats / Prism Helms are more valuable. Unless, you know, you like helplessly watching your characters randomly swing at one another while the enemies kick twelve kinds of crap out of them.
Zeal and Lavos are jerks with their Vigil-canceling Curse spell, though.
I have a message from another time...Marle is invaluable for beating Lavos the first time at Ocean Palace, just because of her haste.
One of my few regrets about being born female is the inability to grow a handlebar mustache. -LandstanderMy favorite team was always Ayla + two.
I love that feisty cavewoman.
Her sprite is adorable.
Yeah Ayla is cool. Though getting kids drunk is not.
Caveman days. Hitting double digits is practically adult age.
And on my very first playthrough (holy crap was that a long time ago!), I went through the whole thing (including the Black Omen) without reviving Crono - my "go to" party was Lucca+Frog+Robo.
...BRB, seeing if there are any stores in my area that have the DS remake.

Speaking of playthroughs,I'm on my third playthrough. I have the main ending, the developer's ending(I beat Lavos on New Game +) and the Nu ending. My go-to party is Chrono, Marle and Ayla (if Ayla isn't in the party then Robo fills the tank role instead.)
I'm trying to get as many ending as possible on my current playthrough before I have to use New Game +,so far I have gotten the Developer's ending and the Nu ending.
My party's level is in the early 60s and I'm going to level up to around Level 90 in hopes of fighting Spekkio's final form. And yes I have the best equipment equipped.
The game itself is awesome, the music is memorable and the characters are wonderful.Better than most games I've played in a while. If only Dalton,Spekkio,Cyrus and a Nu were party members.
Humanity wants equality yet supremacy stands in the way. Destroy that and we can embrace equality.Freaking Dalton.
I still have the opinion that the Dimensional Vortex in the DS ersion led to an ending where Chrono Cross didn't happen, because there's just no way that the party would not have stopped Dalton's invasion after he told them when and where like a complete dolt.
I have a message from another time...That would have been terrible, as it would have removed one of the greatest PS 1 RPGs from existence.
Joking aside, they likely figured that Dalton of all people could do no serious harm, so they didn't bother. When they realized they should do something, it was too late.
BTW, I'm of the opinion that Guardia regained its independence at some point, since some dialogue in Chrono Cross implies it to be completely seperate from Porre. Anyone?
"What's out there? What's waiting for me?"No, I mean, the DS version had a happy, Dalton-free ending. (and they probably would have taken him somewhat seriously, after the fairly difficult fight with Once-King Dalton.
The SNES version didn't have any such warning, so bad stuff, and Cross, happened.
The version of Magus who shows up before the fight with the Dream Devourer is from the latter. As he himself said, there are as many worlds as potentialities.
I have a message from another time...Hey, can anyone tell me how I earn techs? I've learned all the techs currently available, so I want to get more.
For normal Techs, by leveling up. For most Double and Triple Techs, it's just by having certain people in your party and having both use a Tech that can be combined - so, having Crono use Cyclone and Lucca use Fire Toss gives you the Fire Whirl Double Tech. Some Triple Techs require certain items you can find here and there.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.Well it's not actually by leveling up but by getting Tech Points for killing enemies.
Thanks! Do you know where I can find a list with the techs you earn as you level up?
I'm trying to figure out how to get the techs so that I can start learning them by earning TP. I've got all the Techs that Crono, Lucca, and Merle can currently ;earn, but I'm still working on Robo Tackle for Robo.
Another one with the Rock locations.
Oh yeah, if you haven't, you need to talk to Spekkio at the End of Time for Crono, Marle, Lucca, and Frog to start learning their magic techs.
Wait, where are you? Because there's a story event where Crono, Marle, and Lucca will learn magic. If you're seriously close to learning Robo Tackle before that, then I think you might be spending a little too much time in that factory.
Is it even possible to leave the End of Time the first time without doing that? Don't all the doors lock down until you talk to Spekkio?

I have a message from another time...I don't think you have to. Even if you did have to talk to him, only Crono is required to learn magic since Marle or Lucca could be replaced with Robo at the time, and you never have to take Frog to him.
Falcon Strike does have something of a cousin in Frog/Lucca's Line Bomb. Of course, since it's Fire-based, it has its own limitations.
Does anyone else just adore Frog Flare? If Frog is at even just half health, it wipes everything out.
...does Frog Flare also check Lucca's health, the way Mastermune checks the whole party?
