I just completed the 50 day beginner login-in and I agree that hero points are kinda of useless. Either I'm getting guardians to sell for LP or, or equipment that I'm just going to sell. I do get spheres and the occasional R and above gear, but most of it is just sold for gald.

On a side note, I'm now in the 1000s for SA.

Nice job! With Mana Den now a thing its going to be a fucking struggle to keep the top 1000s spot let alone top 500. But I myself am confident I can do it.

Here's a tip: Bewitching Thicket can be grinded for easy EXP and thus stamina refills. Use that to your advantage. Other stages get the EXP 2.0 bonus but Thicket gives out the most for little cost.

And yeah hero points are only good for gear that you'd use to fuse to buff your better weapons. At best.

I can't even clear the mana den without using a continue, so I'm probably not going to end up in the 1000s, plus I have school, so less time for grinding, but I confident I can stay in the 2000s, which is still a good improvement since I was in the 4000s I think last time.

And hopefully you get at least one extra 5* for a little LB-ing.

The drops in rank I'm experiencing have gotten pretty harsh and violent but at least today I have thicket so I can save on gels. And my team is strong enough that some of my guys on their own can kill a Mana Eater in one go. Especially since I rolled 5* Richard and Lloyd and got Dhaos and Yggy.

but seriously WEN BROLI BARBTOS

I just checked and I have to be Rank 801-1000 to get a 5*, so that's unlikely. But I'm at 289792 mana, so at least I have a stockpile of LP and some gear.

I'm sitting on like over 1 million mana, must be around the 300s by now. If I hop back and do some more runs I should be able to climb near the 200s.

I think some of the later story maps have similar EXP bonuses that can be used for cheap stamina refills but its not as reliable.

Speaking of later story areas, I'm now at the sixth area, which was where I was before I quit the game. Hopefully I'll do better now.

The gear and probably the guardian summon tickets will help too. And maybe the hero stones. don't forget to save them up.

So did anybody watch the season finale of the anime? Heldalf was actually a decent antagonist, and Sorey showed a bit of a dark side.

I'm absolutely loving the anime so far. I think every change has been for the better in terms of plot flow and characterization, and I can already see some of the changes setting up smoother explanations for things further down the line.

Unrelatedly, can anyone who's played Zestiria remind me of which town it is where that one big cutscene near the end of the game comes in? It involves Sorey and Mikleo hanging out and talking on a balcony, and Edna and Lailah talking together atop a clock tower or something. I can't seem to find it in the cutscene viewer in Katz Korner.

It's been fun.

I haven't gotten that far in Zesty so I couldn't tell you which town had the tower you mentioned.

BTW I found CWC cheat codes that let you play as the bosses in Radiant Mythology 3 (including Lazaris, the previous RM jabronis, Dhaos, Barbatos, Saleh and Yggdrasill.) The only reason I care much about it is playable Dhaos which is always a win for me.

The codes I used usually take the slot of one of the Kanonnos in the RM category but since my save file always has Grassvalley as one of the active party I can put her back in no problem.

  • They all start at level 1 so I have to use an EXP code sharpish to get them up to the right level, but they have all their CPU artes fine.
  • None of their spells have the short cast time of their CPU forms. So unless you have backup, best not to rely on spellcasting
  • They don't have normals. Well, sort of. Yggdrasill and Saleh have normal moves coded as Artes, and they're labelled "Dummy" but otherwise can be set just fine.
  • They cannot go into Overlimit (which is bullshit since the CPU versions can) so they can't use their Mystic Artes unless you add yet another cheat that adds Mystics to the arte list so they can be mapped to a button. At least RM 3 has 4 different arte set slots. Since they weren't meant to be accessed, they only cost 1 TP. yep.
  • Only Saleh actually has an animation for item usage since...well, his Raspberry Gel arte.
  • They can do Mirror Matches in the Arena just fine.

I'm only gonna focus on the main Tales villains since the other RM villains are jabronis.

  • Dhaos
    • His Dhaos Laser looks so pathetic compared to VS or ACS or the like.
    • His spellcasting takes a while especially Tetra Spell. Dhaos Blast works alright though
    • He has a block animation at least.
    • His MA cutin looks weird. He has this semi-Senpai face going on.
    • His MA is Super Dhaos Laser and it still looks good.
    • They clearly just reused his VS model. I think. or did VS use his RM 2 model?
    • He has Million Assault but if the enemy has super armour its not really that useful.
  • I'd put Dhaos in mid to low tier since he lacks normals and his Dhaos Laser is pathetically wimpy now. if he has nobody covering him while he spellcasts he's dead in the water unless you cheated his SDL in.

  • Saleh
    • Has normals and an Item use animation.
    • Raspberry Gel doesn't actually heal him all that much. Its only there because he wants to go Hazama on you I guess.
    • His arte list is pitifully small as he only has the Gel, Sword Rain and some wind spells (Gusty Nail, wind Edge, Fearful Storm)
    • Sword Rain has some bad recovery time as he does a "Hmph!" pose so if he misses or the opponent has super armour he's kinda fucked
    • His MA is Stiff Breeze/Steif Brise and is okay I guess. Nothing super powerful really.
  • Pretty much low tier. Sword Rain sucks and he needs cover for his spells. Maybe if he had proper normals he'd go up to mid at least.

  • Barbatos
    • Artes he doesn't have: Crazed Blade, Earth Crusher, Compass, Death Abyss, Murder Demon Fang, Hell Heat, all of his Destiny 2 spells as he's based off Destiny remake dumbass Hulk Smash Barbatos.
    • No normals which is sad as he'd really benefit from them.
    • Poison Field probably works well on normal enemies. I really hope it can inflict poison on bosses.
    • At least his CPU form has shades of his smarter counterriffic D2 self as if you ever use Free Run near him he immediately goes to use World Destroyer. But even THAT can be easily avoided now.
    • World Destroyer at least has decent range and coers a fair bit.
    • Genocide Braver doesn't do damage on the opening charge up.
    • Triple Kill looks pretty jabroni esque and can be avoided easily. What works in the Destiny remake probably doesn't work too well in 3D.
    • You guessed it, his MA is Barbatos X Items OTP. And since I can use a cheat to map it to a button he's now lying his fucking face off and attacking people for doing something they didn't do. And it sitll does good damagefor only one TP.
    • Norio Wakamoto's delivery here is nowhere near as phoned in as it was in VS but its still not Destiny remake levels of ham.
  • Put him in mid tier. He needs normals bad. If there's a cheat code to rectify this please let me know.

  • Yggdrasill
    • Probably the most broken. His Yggdrasill Laser, Outburst and Death Eater all cost only 1 TP!
    • Yggdrasill Laser is much larger than Dhaos' Jabroni Laser and is multi hit so enemies with super armour take more meaningful damage and hitstun.
    • Outburst is meh.
    • Death Eater auto homes in on enemies which is great
    • He has his Symphonia spells which is pretty neat. But who needs them when Yggdrasill Laser is so fucking OP
    • His MA is Time Stop and its broken too as he stops time for 10 seconds or so. Plenty of time. I mean holy shit Yggy. The fact that it costs 1 TP like all hacked in M As means he can go borderline Ultimecia on everyone.
    • I always thought his cutin looked silly.
    • CPU Yggdrasill can chain his Dummy normals into his artes even when he's in your team. But you can't do it when you're controlling him. BULLSHIT
  • Yggy is God Tier. no arguments. Srsly.

I'll do the other bosses some other time. But yeah THIS is some fun shit.

Lastonbell, I believe. The border town with the big bell tower, anyway.

So I was thinking of RP Gs tropes and cliches that could be deconstructed in future Tales games, and I remember how a few RP Gs have shipping mechanics like character getting romantically involved and having kids who become playable characters, with the occasional time skip.

That got me thinking,"what if Tales used a 'generation' system in a future game?" Would you guys like such a feature? How would you want it to be done? What kind of plot would you want it to be tied into?

For the last question, I imagine some sort of scenario where the first-gen MC is actually a Villain Protagonist, only we don't find out until we get to 2nd-gen MC, who is the child of the 1st MC, and is on the opposite side or morality, and was raised believing their parent was a hero only to find out the cruel truth. The story could be about the importance and meaning of family, how it is defined by someone, and how it defines them. For bonus points, the cameo battle could be the Innocence cast, who's game deals with self-identity.

What, like Phantasy Star 3 did?

That...could happen I guess but I dunno if people would be into it. Hell if Fire Emblem Genealogy and Awakening were any indication making babies would less be about making your dream pairing and more about which pairing gives the best stats to mash the game into bits with.

I never played any of the Phantasy Star games, so I don't know what you're talking about. Don't worry about explaining it, I'll check it out later.

I figured that would happen, since I have an account on Serenes Forest (with the exact same name and picture I have here), so I'm well aware of the FE fandoms's tendencies. I can also tell you that there would be plenty of people who would do it just for the ships, or to experiment with builds. Not to mention those games were extremely popular, to the point Awakening saved the Fire Emblem franchise. Though people do hate it's story, and Fates's too.(Stupid hyperbolic time chamber kids...)

But hey, let's people play how they want. I'm just interested in discussing how people would want to see it done in a Tales game. Besides, it could lead to an interesting story, as Genealogy was an example of a dark story done right.

Or horrific.

You leave your kid in an alternate dimension with strangers and servants without their sibling if they have one, during which they experience sorrow from the absence of their family. Only to be reunited with them after having your home attacked. There's a reason why the concept is hated on SF.

Can't forget the pseudo-incest. Or actual incest in the case of Azura and Corrin.(They're cousins, which is only revealed in Revelations.)

Like I said, people hate the new games' stories. So if you're planning to play one, play Conquest. It has very good gameplay.

The newer games have their good parts, but they're also very different from the older games. I liked Awakening and Fates, but I still like the older ones better.
