Just ran into Iria in Lloyd and Colette's Tales of VS story and reading up on her, holy wow she seems very damn unpleasant.

God even her voice is fucking awful. Stop screeching for fucks sakes.

Iria really isn't that pleasant. She's a tsundere gone horribly wrong. Aka she's too much of the tsun and is just a huge bitch. Then again, I don't like anyone from Innocence except maybe Hermana.

Also, I hope Zestiria has at least one villain who is a jerkass for the sake of being a jerkass, they're so refreshing to see in Tales games. Like Alice fron TOS DOTNW, Ragou and Cumore from Vesperia and so forth.

Not even Ange, she really doesn't interest me that much. Plus I'm not fond of the fact that in either their past life or present, everyone except Hermana in the party betrayed Luca or Asura.

But really, Iria just plain disgusts me. I refuse to even give her a damn chance if she's like this. She's far too much of the Louise-Naru type Tsundere who are just plain HORRIBLE bitches that don't deserve even a shred of sympathy no matter what soppy backstory they get.

I'd go so far as to say I hate Iria as much as I hate Mohs. She's that awful.

Ange is godly. In more ways than one.

Mania is too much for me, so Hard it is. Elraine is actually tolerable on Hard! I got full grade against her. Fortuna was BS. Stop. Teleporting. ALREADY! Seriously, my best spells keep missing cause she won't stop teleporting. At least she gave me 1000 Grade.

Oh right, the story. Rutee gives us our advice to follow our heart, so Kyle and Reala go to the Laguna Ruins together. Kyle's had enough of this: he just learned he has to kill her, and she's totally okay with it. Reala says she trusts him because he's her hero and puts all her faith in her pendant, the one thing that brought her and Kyle together. Kyle decides to put his faith in it as well, and they promise to meet again. The pendant then flies away.

Egg of God! Confronting Elraine. She unceremoniously kicks the bucket and Fortuna appears. Since Elraine failed, Fortuna asks Reala: what is it that God should do to make humans happy? Reala says Fortuna is unneeded. Humans can find their own happiness, which can only be achieved through hardship and experience, and not Fortuna handing everything on a plate. Fortuna cannot handle rejection, so we fight her as the meteor approaches. After she disappears, Kyle shatters the huge Lens that used her as a core. This destroys both Fortuna and Reala, so the flow of time returns to normal, with everyone's memories disappearing. Harold goes back to her time, Nanaly says she'll see Loni again, Judas disappears into the void and thanks them for saving him from his own nihilism.

Kyle wakes up at hme, with Stahn alive. He has decided to go on a grand adventure with Loni, to find someolne to protect. Though their memories are gone, framents of them still remain. Kyle recognises the ruins as a familiar place and when he goes to the place where Reala's lens is, Reala appears! They call out each others' name.

And I have...6,300 Grade?! I only needed about 100 points for Unknown! No fair! Maybe I'll try Magnadeus...

Man, whoever edited our Destiny 2 page has a real beef with Reala. She's far from that awful. Serious exagerration there.

Did they even try to talk to her, or were they so hyped up on their Man doesn't need gods attitude that they didn't even want to try?

God is bullying one of Tales of Innocence's core themes? Because that game's sounding more and more unpleasant.

Well...Fortuna's idea of helping humanity is to turn everybody into emotionless drones that have no names, take their babies away at birth and havethem do nothing while she grants their wishes. They are content, so it's technically happiness, but it's entirely hollow when they never worked for it. Plus, Elraine says that humans are pathetic, piteous creatures that cannot survive without god, and Fortuna's first reaction to rejection is to destroy the known history. Not the best kind of god.

Not...what I was asking kinda. Meant if one of TOI's themes was "bullying" since Ruca and Ange get way more grief from their "friends" than they should, poor souls.

Ah, sorry about that. But yeah I'm gonna find it hard to like Innocence if I'm gonna like only 2 of the protags. Poor Ruca. Poor Ange.

If you only like one or two characters for any given work, you're probably going to have a bad time.

Perhaps so. Abyss had a great cast that really warmed up to me (Except Mohs, fuck that shitbag the story shit the bed with him). Even Luke as a dickhead was funny because everyone had a go at him fo being a dickhead and he improved tremendously.

Even Symphonia 2 had a fair amount of decent newcomers. Well, except Alice, Richter, Red Emil and Brute.

Unless Innocence R toned down or removed all the bullying inflicted on Luca/Ruca (I honestly prefer Luca. Ruca makes him sound like he's a chess piece or a brand of potato chips.), I don't think I'll like it or want it. I never want to play the Fan Translation of Innocence DS again because it was just one big disappointment party wise.

Same. Because Innocence is really starting to sound like just one big unpleasant experience where I only tolerate TWO people, the exact opposite of Abyss where I liked everyone except Mohs.

Man, I came so late to this discussion... the damage is done.

@ Kombat: I don't know why I am doing this. But Iria is not THAT awful. She masquerades as a tsundere, but deep down her real self is conflicted. Everyone gets Devalokan flashbacks in the ruins they visit, but only Iria knows ALL the truth about Innana. And can't wrap her head around how different her past and present selves are. Which is the game's theme: 'Do not let your past dictate your future'. She isn't 'gimme your lunch money' bully, and nowhere near Naru/Louise level bad. (For that she would have to use more VIOLENCE.)

Your problem is that you met her in a spin off. Which means 'development and/or relationships are reset'. She is still at the 'I have a gun and an attitude, what's stopping me from kicking your asses?' status there.

Spada also 'bullies' Luca, but admits that's because he is so innocent he couldn't help. Later on they become true BFF. Angie is more of a troll. Making the others think she is still a man after reincarnation, and robbing monsters and calling it 'donations'. She gets all the fatty jokes because in this game 'chubby' means 'not Iria/Hermana malnutritioned toothpick slim'.

So really: Like Luca because of the 'Emil level shota yet later mans up'. Ange = 'looks pious, yet is a snarky troll'. Spada = 'rich kid who is NOT spoiled / loves justice yet is not Lloyd level dumb'. Hermana = Luca's only straight honest friend (and was his draconic babysitter in the past) That's already 4 of 6. (If you didn't like Kratos/Richter you won't like Ricardo...)

Liked everyone but Mohs: Really? Even Asch? (SHUT UP REPLICA!) Even Kimlasca's asshole royals? (We know you will die but we are sending you on this mission anyway.) Sync? (I should have been Killed Off for Real on the planet's core, but Van shared his Cheat Death card with me.)

@ Rob: I think I already answered you. Tsunderes can be fun, seeing them swing between 'I don't like you, baka' and 'but I really do, dear'. It's the ones that use VIOLENCE at the drop of a hat the ones Kombat (and anyone sane) hates.
