Why? It only takes a second. You don't even need to pause the game.
A lot of my memories of beam stacking in Super involved contantly turning the Ice Beam on and off, honestly.
I sure said that!Dammit now I can't get Slowbeef's Ridley voice out of my head.
The one from the pirates is just a whole lot of tube socks.
I have a message from another time...Well, you know what works with that?
I'd like to think this is the reason the NIIIIIIITEEEEENDO SIIIIXTY FOOOOOOUR never had a Metroid title.

TV Tropes's No. 1 bread themed lesbian. she/her, fae/faerI think there's a missed opportunity with Blast Ball.
The ball should be smaller. About a meter wide.
I would love a sport where Samus is the ball.
Besides Pinball, I mean.

Frankly, I think the Hitler Meme explains it the best, regardless of opinions on Other M.
Evolve: Chibi Edition? Yeah, nice try, Nintendo.
It can't be worse than the last one.
So I was thinking about Federation Force some more and I thought of something. Instead of focusing on the GF the story mode for this game should have had Samus and the Corruption Hunters working together to complete missions for the GF. It would still be a spinoff and have a different play style from the other games but at least it would have a stronger connection to the other games.
Just finished Prime 1's Trilogy version. Good game, but the getting to the Phazon Mines was always annoying and the infinitely spawning Fission Metroids in the Phazon Core was a dick move because of the platforming. Would have gone for 100% Completion, but I'm pretty sure I missed those Ice Bats that only spawn once and one of the Missile Expansions was in the darkened labs in the Drifts and requires precise Morph Ball movement. I couldn't see well enough to get the stupid thing.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?...I have a feeling like that was one of the original ideas for the game but they wanted to take the story in another direction.
I mean, it seems like Tanabe said that this was conceived of as a Metroid game first.
You can get that missile expansion before the labs go dark.
If the fission metroids are giving you trouble I suggest using power bombs.
Ice Beam should be a separate weapon. Long, Charge, Wave, Spazer, and Plasma Beams should stack on each other. Each is a component of an overarching awesome weapon, and has greatly diminished quality if used separately.
Fusion got this, which is why it introduced Ice Missiles as an alternative to having to switch the Ice Beam on and off. All the other Beams are great together, but the Ice Beam adds an unnecessary extra shot to every kill.
Beam switching works well in the Prime series because "the right gun for the right job" is a major part of the challenge in FPS gaming. It should remain an element for any future first-person Metroid titles, but sidescrollers should keep the composite beam system and just boot Ice over to Missiles like Fusion did.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Finally stole the Wii U and started the Trilogy over. Never played the first Prime with motion controls. I like it so far. Had to turn the free aim during lock ons off though.
Just got the morph ball bomb. Can't remember where everything is.

Oh really when? There's a lot of do-a-double-bomb-jump puzzles in Prime that get defanged pretty harshly by the inclusion of the Spring Ball, too- The first is right in the Vault of Chozo Ruins.
I sure said that!@unnoun. I know, but I didn't see it until afterwards.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Varia Suit get!
I can't help but feel like I'm doing something out of order. Can you do that in Prime? I don't remember.
Oh really when?I think you could in the initial GNC versions due to glitches, but they were patched in later versions and the Trilogy edition.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?In the NTSC version there were all sorts of sequence breaks.
The Trilogy version took a lot out.
There's a few left though.
Thank god for collision detection issues. And slightly slanted ground. The way that unmorphing in midair gives you a very small upward boost. And rocks.

Well I guess Magmoor Caverns is next. After I poke around for missile expansions and other goodies.
I'm trying to remember how many I can get at this point. I feel like I've gotten a good number of those available so far.
Oh really when?I don't think I can play Prime without the Space Jump boots.
So I'm playing Prime and I got to Phazon Mines for the first time. I just realized that means The Gauntlet is next. Dammit.
I love that early scan in the mines that's all "oh shit. The Hunter is here, she's looking for us, and she's hacking all our strongest encryptions! KILL HER ON SIGHT!"
I have a message from another time...
And beam stacking is awesome; the Ice-Wave-Plasma beam is the most satisfying weapon to have in the series.
