^ I'm listening to quite a lot of industrial metal lately, though largely the big names right now: Ministry, Godflesh, Pitchshifter, a bit of E Insturzende Neubauten. There's a bit of difference between those bands and EBM, though, so I'm not sure how useful my recommendations would be.
May I ask who the confirmed Rivethead is?
Well, EN weren't really metal. They certainly were industrial, though, including using such things like power tools and sheets of metal as instruments.

Aww, did I hurt your widdle fee-fees?Recently I've been attempting to fill out my Industrial music collection as currently it is painfully small. Went and snagged a bunch of albums by classic bands: Front 242, Front Line Assembly, Skinny Puppy, Throbbing Gristle (I deleted that though, a little too extreme for my taste), Portion Control, and Gary Numan.
Like many others most of what I've heard related to the genre is Industrial Metal like Godflesh, Ministry, midera-Samael, Fear Factory, KMFDM, etc.

Neubaten are metal? I've been thinking of checking them out some day, but never heard that one before.
Also, Cabaret Voltaire were pretty cool you guys.
I've discovered them on Last.fm of all things (back when it was free for us non-big country residents).

Laibach, Cabaret Voltaire and Coil = love. Especially Cabaret Voltaire. x3
From the modern 'industrial', I enjoy most aggrotech and industrial rock, and a small amount of EBM. I'm not much of an Industrial Metal fan, but I like Oomph! (unless Neue Deutsche Härte is separate from industrial metal...)
Nobody's mentioned Throbbing Gristle yet:
Samael fans hate me, I enjoy all their music. This is not tolerated.
I sorta liked DIMD by Ohgr, the Skinny Puppy spinoff, does that count as industrial?
I too like all of Samael's stuff.

The 5 geek social fallacies. Know them well. It's bumptastic!
But yes, anyone else here enjoy any early Maurizio Bianchi? Esplendor Géometrico? H.N.A.S.? D.D.A.A.?
I'll hide your name inside a word and paint your eyes with false perception.Nope, but will. :D

Awesome! I think I've fallen prey to the trap of listening to the vocal minority again. I like the sound of Above.
EDIT: I also kind of like the sound of Leibach. And I listened to Throbbing Gristle because of this thread (yeah, I know, I don't listen to nearly enough industrial), and I liked them too. So I'm learning.

I really don't like the "martial" part or the military themed stuff and sometimes that's a problem, for example it's a reason why I really don't want to listen to And One or Tyske Ludder.
Einstürzende Neubauten are really interesting, though I really like only two of their songs (Sabrina and The Garden). I do listen to them but being so experimental and all I tend to find them... stressful.
What I do like is
- Amduscia https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpfzGWMHcbk,
- FGFC280: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNU6TfAtCtw
- Covenant: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugsHs6yBumg (ignore the video)
- Apoptygma Berzerk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1WpERF80DM
(I guess one could say I like it when it's not to aggressive and more on the synthpop-ish side of the spectrum....)

The 5 geek social fallacies. Know them well.Oh it's not EBM? Sry I'm kinda bad with genres, I thought it sounded similar!
PS Ok read the Wiki Link - "In addition, it incorporates influences from synthpop (such as song structure and vocal style) and uplifting trance (grandiose and arpeggiated synthesizer melodies) to create beat-driven, club-oriented music that is considered more danceable and upbeat than EBM" - yeah I think that fits my taste quite well!
I'll check out the other artists listed there on Wiki. Though I don't like And One... but well.

If everything you try works, you aren't trying hard enoughIt's a subgenre of EBM. And you should check out VNV Nation.
The 5 geek social fallacies. Know them well.Ok, I will!
If everything you try works, you aren't trying hard enoughVNV Nation is awesome; hell, I have more plays by them on my last.fm than any other artist, metal or otherwise.
VNV Nation is just crazy epic sounding.
And as long as I'm on the Industrial Thread, everyone should give this a listen.
Pitch Shifter article is up. Anyone who knows of and listens to them is free to patch up my shitty page. So, basically, that's Glowsquid .
Edit: Laibach doesn't have a page. An opportunity to spread the word, inane?

Aww, did I hurt your widdle fee-fees?Yay Pitch Shifter! ...I'll get to Laibach this weekend.
The 5 geek social fallacies. Know them well.
We lack an Industrial thread. So I thought it would be good to start one, finally. I know we have at least one Rivethead here.
Anyway, I've really got into In Strict Confidence lately. And a few months back it was Heimatarde.
I've been very into EBM and Martial Industrial for several years. Also, if you've never listened to Janus, you should check them out.
