Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, you can't sell him fish anymore. http://thoughtfulspurts.wordpress.com/Well great, now I'm not sure which to pick.
Whole thing sounds fun though.

You are reading this.Huh. One of the sources I had seemed to imply lugging a sniper rifle and a personal weapon from the drop zone to the OP wasn't that unusual. Although in that scenario it was an L118A1 and an M16A2/M203 combo.

"Yup. That tasted purple."A short distance, sure, and I probably won't hit you with encumbrance penalties (it's roughly comparable to carrying an AT 4 on your back). But don't keep it up for too long.
Of course, that'll be more of an issue in footmobile campaigns, instead of ones where you get comfy heli rides in and out.
Charlie Stross's cheerful, optimistic predictions for 2017, part one of three.Hmmm, possible blow up Massachusetts or go to Spain ; such a tempting choice.
@Sabre: Will the teams be mixed in both locals?

I suppose I should be glad I'm not going to be involved in Dear Round Two. Which of course means that Spain will go even further south than the US.
Regardless, I'd suggest that a decent number of commandos go to the US—and bring the biggest explosives you can carry. I have a sneaking suspicion that those "particularly ugly merpeople" weren't kidding about the squiddy god at the bottom of Devil's Reef.
I don't have anyone particularly in mind that I'd like to bring for the Spain mission, but if I'm allowed to get in touch with some of my agents, there are some materials I'd like to buy/get cooking so I can pick them up when I get back. Also, any pointers on how big a gun I should bring? Handgun? Rifle? Barret M82? ...laser designator?
"Your mission is not to nuke the squid god." —FaramirHmmm, should I bring C4
They can dynamite Devil's reef
But that'll bring no relief,
Y'ha N'thlei is deeper than they know...

"Your mission is not to nuke the squid god." —FaramirChallenge accepted.
Forgot one; in case of CT situations:
- Heckler and Koch MP5A3
- Navy Trigger Group
- Surefire 628 Incandescent Forend Weaponlight
Also, if we're going to make weight an issue is it worth swapping the .338 Lapua L115 for a .308 L118 to save half a kilo on the rifle and however much the difference in ammo weight is?

"Yup. That tasted purple."Shun, you're giving him ideas.
"Yup. That tasted purple."
Your ammo slows you down to runnin .000001 mph less than the infernal abomination chasing you. He catches you and kills you.
I am become Death, Destroyer of Miniputts.Saving throw! I summon my ancestral sword.
The Wizards just left a message, guys. I think we should listen to it.

Really? I thought we left the radio on.
Let God do His work, we will see to ours. Bring in the candles.Okay. GM word to players; if you want family to show up at all in this game in any context, do tell the GM so he can arrange it. I'm willing to work with you. Otherwise, if you just post at some details, I will assume that's all you have and happily fill in the rest—which just might conflict with what you had in mind in your own background documents.
With that said...
KIIIIIIIIIIINO! You should feel ashamed of yourself, young man!◊
Charlie Stross's cheerful, optimistic predictions for 2017, part one of three.I don't want Clark's family to show up at all and in fact had no plans to even design them but nooooo that's not an option with some people.
"Your mission is not to nuke the squid god." —FaramirWell, in-character Alex will probably want to at least know what's up with his sister.
Out-of-character I could go either way.
As for the mission, again I could probably go with either, but my personal preference is leaning towards tagging along to the US.
You are reading this. What's going on? I first read this at 4am, so I didn't really delve into it.
Suddenly long lost sisters joining the Mossad
I am become Death, Destroyer of Miniputts. When did the Mossad come into this?
"Your mission is not to nuke the squid god." —FaramirWell Warren has this great uncle...
Okay. So, big round of applause to Faramir, whose suggestions helped the GM to plan more than he'd accomplished in the past two weeks or so.
It is now confirmed: we are doing a split adventure. Both wizards and commandos are going to separate missions.
In Spain, Clark and Lita are going. In the US, Chessie is confirmed (HK is an experienced Call of Cthulhu player and Chessie is hinted to be related to Jakub Wedrowycz; this is too good to waste. I apologize to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in advance for the likely destruction that will follow.)
Now, remaining players, please make your choices where you're going. US needs more people, and the Commandos are recommended to show up there. Warren can go either way—either case, he'll probably run into family. At the same time, I'm worried that Spain's going to end up undermanned, so having Clark take a person along with him or so would be great.
Remaining wizards and witches (those still active, that is), I recommend Spain for you, but Chessie could always do with backup
and someone to revive her after her alcoholic binges.
