When you get around to it, Fonons and Mana are the same thing, narriatively speaking. A magic particle/energy that's in all things, allows the use of magic, and is central to the conflict. They're macguffin particles.

Yes, but they didn't take something that was real, and say it worked in a completely different way. I can accept "magic tree spirit" over "sound", because its entirely fantastic. Sound isn't. Sound is real. We know how that works. It isn't magic.

...wait, I think I have remembered this badly. Only the Seventh Fonon is sound. And it's not limited to mundane sound, which is why there are Fonic Hymns that use the other forms of Fonons. Fonons, as a whole, are the basic particles that make up things. They come in various forms.

How powerful is Sol Badguy? I ask because I know Julius is pretty damn tough. I mean, anyone that can solo Dracula's castle and beat the shit out of him is pretty tough, but Julius did it and managed to make Dracula stay dead.

It seems as though you haven't faced him in FFXII or Type 0. Or even encountered him in FFVIII.
Actually, if he appeared in Kingdom Hearts, he could easily be portrayed as Sephiroth level in difficulty.

Really though, he varies from being the weakest and the strongest character in Final Fantasy. Heck, he was both in Dissidia. If he used all Excaliburs, then he was the most powerful. If he used all Excalipoors, then he was the weakest.

Gilgamesh is just as weapon-dependent as Sora is, but his weapons can still be knocked away from him. Sora's can reappear in his hands at will.

Gilgamesh summons swords, too. He just doesn't care which ones he summons. So you end up with things like three Masamunes and three chicken knives.
