As we've gone over several times before, R.O.B. is a special case, still fulfilling the "originated with a video game" rule while also existing outside of them.
For all intents and purposes he's a video game accessory, like a Super Scope.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Well, yeah. But he's referred to as an actual, in-universe character too, unlike the Super Scope or Zapper. It's absolutely bizarre.
I sure said that! Can you imagine a playable Super Scope? That'd be hilarious.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Funny, since we've gotten to play as one Legendary, and outside of a Joke Character(who was just a clone), he was the weakest of them all. I forgot if he was higher or lower than Pichu on the list. XD
Anyway, that's not what I meant by R.O.B. I mean that he was not directly a video game character only, but a toy/accessory as well. Those would easily count as a third party choice if it was that same situation.
Where as guys who started in a non-Nintendo Cartoon would stand no chance. And before you say it, no I don't think Captain N would stand a chance either. Even if he had a video game appearance. Albeit, I wouldn't mind the Zapper appearing in Smash.
Quest 64 threadHe used to be lower than Pichu, but Mewtwo's metagame has improved greatly since then. Now he's not at the bottom anymore.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.I don't think anyone sincerely wants to see Captain N. Sarcastically, maybe.
And Mewtwo was lower on the tiers than everyone else in Melee for a good long while, even if it was on accident- I doubt the developers had a tier list in mind, since everyone is supposed to be roughly equally matched, Joke Characters and the deliberately Over-Powered aside.

I sure said that! Then again, there are tons of people vying for Non-Specific Action Figure in Smash. He's never appeared in as much as a cartoon.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.I don't think those people are entirely serious. There might be some that are but they probably think he's a teaser for some Wii U game which would make him eligible to appear.
The only guys I saw Pichu being good against was Bowser and Giga Bowser. Okay, he slaughters Giga alone.(but that's due to the fact he's just plain faster and can easily dodge)
Anyway, I haven't checked the latest list. Of course, I know Sakurai doesn't base the balance upon anything but items(and he did try to make it so they were about equal online-wise, apparently).
As for Captain N, while he would be actually pretty cool to see, I really don't think it would really work. The major reason is that he has no Nintendo game appearances. He's also third party, and finally, not enough people want him. He's not a good idea, overall.
I wonder if somebody did a hack of him using Fox or Falco.(atleast two moves match, his Laser and the Fast Forward button)
Quest 64 threadCode hax him to have Luigi's final smash for the pause button and you've got yourself a character.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI'm completely serious! Non-Specific Action Figure is awesome!
He shouldn't be playable, but it'd be cool if he cameoed somehow. Maybe a stage based on the Wii U promo he's from?
A coffee table with a TV with Zombi U in the background?
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.A trophy would be good enough, to be completely serious about Non-Specific Action Figure.
To be non-serious, he should be every character on the roster. And all the bosses. And the options menu.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! It was also an ad for Miiverse. It could work as part of the Miiverse stage... -desperately hangs onto hope-
Super Non-Specific Action Figure Bros. Universe.
On the topic of NSAF, he should get some extra recognition in the WiiU version, since that's the system he's advertising.
"i'm like the pimpmaster hustledaddy of all snippy bookshrews" -Dave StriderSeriously, you wouldn't expect how popular NSAF is among Nintendo fans ever since E3 2011.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Even the execs noticed it! Between the pre-E3 video and the 3DS presentation less than a week later, NSAF absolutely exploded.
I kind of feel like they had an idea for a game involving this character and wanted to see how people would react before they committed to it.

NSAF was at E3 2011?
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! No. He meant 2012.
I'd never even heard of this guy until right now.
A serious suggestion: Never actually played the game since I don't live in Japan, but what about Captain Rainbow? He at least has experience with other Nintendo characters.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.YES! Skip Ltd's characters need representation, especially Captain Rainbow and Chibi Robo.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.I want Chibi-Robo in because he'd just be pure WTF to everyone that didn't play that game. The funniest part is that I can actually see him working in the game despite the relative lack of combat present in his series.
I think that Captain*Rainbow is actually the one skip Ltd character that'd work- He and Chibi-Robo are the only two with combat ability, and of those two, he's the one who doesn't have "tiny" right in his name. Plus, he has an amazing theme song.
Albeit, I'm not against any actual character.(when I say I prefer, it just means I like a different option) One exception is non-Nintendo appearing ones and ones who originated outside of games or not to introduce a game(I.E. R.O.B.)
Mons series are hard to draw the line with, since all the Mooks are playable. "Notable Pokemon" seems the best place to draw the line, so yeah, Legendaries and really popular ones only.

I sure said that!
