Ah, I misinterpreted your original post. Yeah, the movie that Lucario starred in came out before Pokémon Diamond and Pearl did.
x4 I don't think that Lucario's situation is quite like Roy's, since the game Lucario debuted in did come out before Brawl came out, while Roy's game wasn't even out when Melee was first released in Japan.
Personally I'd rather Classic Mode just end with a classic battle against Master Hand (and Crazy Hand in specific circumstances) rather than have a huge slog of a Marathon Boss again.
Reserve the Marathon Boss, whether it's Master Core or something new, for the game's story mode.

I'm probably not the first to suggest the Labo robot (Labot?), but if ROB could get in...

Transforming into a giant robot is obviosuly the final smash. The other specials I guess could just transform into mini versions of the robots forms, like the car for side-b.
