Does Smash have a character with a spear/hook pulling enemies closer attack a la Scorpion?

Yoshi might count with his tongue but otherwise, is there any character with that attack? Or potential newcomers with a grappling hook attack

Link but also Rex. His starting ability is exactly that.

That's literally every tether grab in the game.

Boy would he pulling people like Bowser or DK feel weird.

Rex doesn't really use it to pull enemies closer, though, he uses it to yank their feet out from under them.

Technically it's still in Smash 4, just as a consequence of the banana peel item and certain low-hitting attacks rather than randomly-occuring. Rex having a ranged means of applying a trip could actually be an interesting mechanic.

Now here is fun speculation idea.

Potential Kirby copy moves from newcomers?

Their neutral specials.

If my BotW!Link idea from earlier in this thread was used, then Kirby's copy ability would be the Bomb Rune.

...And now I'm picturing Kirby with that Link's hairstyle.

What if Link got Bomb Arrows and they worked like this: Link uses Down B to grab bomb, Link uses Neutral B to shoot arrow with bomb attached?

I hesitate to point this out, since there isn't a snowball's chance in hell they'd ever actually be playable, but the only character I can think of capable of that off the top of my head is the Bounty Hunter. x3

I really, really, want 8 player mode to return. If this anything I want more than a character, it's having a proper 8 player mode.

That begs the question of how would duo characters affect that mode. Because it could become a cluttered mess.

I wouldn't mind if 8 Player Smash never came back. Never liked it, plus it's a big reason why Wii U's singleplayer sucked.

Because chaos...and most battles were 6-8 players.

There wasn't even a mini game interim...

Though, I'm just guessing that those were a problem.

Smash has never been know for single player content to begin with.

randomness nailed it: 5+ free-for-alls in Classic are super chaotic, which isn't good for a mode where you're trying to kill everyone for prizes and generally not die once. Plus computer players can kill steal to deprive you of said prizes, which is stupid.

True, but Melee and Brawl still had pretty good singleplayer content.
