I mean everyone at least knows who Sonic is, which is the point. That being said, Legend of Zelda might be Level 1, in complete honesty,

it was difficult for me to place Zelda. I couldn't pick between Levels 0 and 1.

I think there is some legitimate argument to make for Fire Emblem being above Metroid.

The only reason against this would be that Fire Emblem's first game was never released worldwide and thus doesn't have that "classic" reputation something like Metroid does.

By this I mean, Fire Emblem is treated like a "level 1" franchise and it's slowly working. Mobile app might change this a lot though.

Also, why is Xenoblade at level 4 with the likes of Game & Watch?

The only notable games are Xenoblade Chronicles and Xenoblade Chronicles X, and they're only known because Shulk is in Sm4sh.

Xenoblade wasn't exactly unknown before Smash, it's just that the majority of people didn't play the game due to limited release and being at the end of the Wii's lifespan. It was popular enough to get X featured as a major title by Nintendo, even before Shulk's inclusion in Smash.

I'm surprised being gamecube exclusive and a Nintendo IP that Eternal Darkness has been absent from Smash Bros

I've never played that game, but I am slightly dissapointed that it hasn't seen representation. In the land of Nintendo, a game like that really stands out, and I imagine any character from that game would stand out amongst the cast

Can't believe Operation Rainfall isn't remembered.

That campaign is people in the west demanding Xenoblade Chronicles. That alone should bump it up a tier from the retro franchises.

Admittedly, it was hard for me to gauge the popularity of the franchises. Xenoblade probably does qualify at least as a level 2. But, I was keeping in mind the limited release it saw in the US. it is also largely known by the majority of people because of Shulk's appearance in Smash. Fire Emblem is close to level 1, as well. Later installments like Awakening at least.

As for Eternal Darkness being in Smash: I would welcome it even though I've never played Eternal Darkness. It would probably stand out as much as Metal Gear Solid and Bayonetta do.

I only know Eternal Darkness exists thanks to people mentioning it on the internet. I don't know what the game's about or what kind of game it is, though.

(Then again, people consider Wolf a complete clone of Fox, even though most of his moves are different.)

Not that there aren't differences, but how much would those differences affect any matchups.

Lucina would be able to handle Jigglypuff or Kirby just as well as Marth can for example.

I can see that, actually.

Lucina started out as a skin, and got a single property tweaked to be differenciated. Don't compare that to Wolf.

So I was playing with my brother, and he always mains Link while I always like to switch it up. He was beating me while I used my favorites (shulk, kirby, capt.) so I decided to joke around and use Jigglypuff, and it actually worked and I beat him. I was pretty happy and he raged quit, because he almost never loses to anyone with Link.

I actually did a small tournament this morning while visiting my old vocational:

The characters used were: Cloud (Me), Marth, Link, Bowser, Peach, and Ike

Peach won the whole tournament.

right? how dare they try to balance the games by making OP characters more fun to play against and not have stupid zero to death combos, stupid frame data, and in general not be so far ahead of the cast??

Eh, current Diddy is as good a choice as any for top tier. A lot less bullshit than he used to be.

Except, they did? The bullshit is gone from Diddy, it was a good balance, and the character remains good.
