Finally downloaded the update and goddamn I love the buffs. Robin's Arcthunder into down throw into up air is sick. Kills Jiggs at 70% and Dedede at 120.

Maybe they are saving the Tales of Character spot for the main character of the first Tales game, Cress from Phantasia.

Yeah, this guy. Remember him? I don't either. But I do know that Tales of Phantasia first appeared on the Super Famicom.

He's much more popular in Japan than internationally- In no small part due to the few translated ports being kinda shoddy- And he's got an ace in the hole by virtue of being both the first main character of the series and the source for basically all the "main character" Artes in the series like Demon Fang and Tiger Dance and so on.

I mean, Sega and Namco are both owed a slot each at this point- I'd take Cress.

Something interesting that came out of this patch, apparently all rolls and spotdodges now have one less frame of invinciblity. Probably was done in order to decrease roll spam in For Glory.

When are we going to start that tournament? I'm really psyched about it.

Huh. Well, that's...interesting.

I guess the development team was, to some extent, aware of complaints that the game was too defensive.

You know you play too much Smash when you try to spot dodge... in Mortal Kombat.

I would've preferred Lloyd over Cress, mostly because he duel-wields. Not many other characters in Smash do, and it would've mitigated at least a few of the "another anime guy with a sword" complaints.

I'd take any Tales rep, though.

Lloyd has a lot more personality than Cress, too.

Which makes it hilarious that Lloyd is a Mii Fighter costume, when Mii Fighters use one sword only.

Ah well. At least I can play as Colette in Lloyd's outfit, throwing chakrams all over the place.

Which reminds me...

I think I should interject that being a costume doesn't necessarily preclude the chances that the character themselves will show up down the line.

Nice. The fact that it ends with Hero Spin, which looks kind of like Ring Whirlwind, would make that even more fitting as Colette.

Erm. I'm not sure if I can push myself to start Tales of Symphonia again. I mean, I want to get into the series, but it's so dated.
