I would honestly not buy Pichu. I might buy Roy if the rumors are true just out of curiosity and nostalgia, but no way in hell would I buy Pichu.
The point of a Joke "anything" in games is to be ridiculous in the game's context.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.His best moments are when when he is being the Straight Man in certain situations.

Pichu > Roy. The rat at least brings something interesting to the table (proper joke character) and would not be another clone based off a character who already has a clone.
Your preferences are not everyone else's preferences."Joke" and "DLC" are two descriptors that should never be applied to any character at the same time.
I don't see Pichu as a joke character. I see him as a challenge character.
He's weaker, lighter, and he hurts himself, but if you can win with him, then it says more about you as a Smasher than if you had just used Pikachu. ;p
If I didn't have an irrational hatred of Roy, I would say he could make for a good return if they changed up his moveset. Roy's animations with the Sealed Sword are very different from Marth's.
But that would never happen and Roy is literally the worst. Go Pichu.

"Curry killed the pussy hoping that I could kill the hate in you" - Curry, D. "TABOO | TA13OO." TA13OO, PH, 2018Correction: "joke" and "paid DLC."
"We're home, Chewie."I wouldn't expect much more than what Falco got from Melee to Brawl.
Yeah, I don't see selling a blatant Joke Character as DLC is a smart idea, previous appearance or not.
"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."To be fair, either one is still better than Young Link. Now that would just be a joke as paid DLC.
Your preferences are not everyone else's preferences.Gotta go fast!
Mewtwo better have a custom where his Shadow Ball damages as it's charging.
...Mewtwo better have his customs in the next several months or I'm gonna pout relentlessly.
He's stylin'!
When I have my opponent completely figured out in For Glory, I switch my name to "Doge" and pick Pink Falcon. Such reads. Doge Pawnch! Wow.
Yeah at that point there's not an ounce of seriousness in me.

I haven't played Melee all that much, but I am aware of how Pichu is in that game. Quite honestly, most of the people who want him back are probably the worst parts of the Melee fandom who want all the veterans from that game back regardless of how they played.
I don't really see anyone but them shelling out the cash for Pichu if he ever was DLC anyway.
"I shall not be foolish again, my dear Gwendolyn!"Mewtwo was really the only painful cut in the transition from Melee to Brawl, though I'm glad Dr. Mario returned in 4, considering the unique situation with Mario's Down Special move.
The transfer from Brawl to 4 was a little more painful, but Lucas is definitely returning however late he is and Wolf is likely not far behind, leaving only Snake, Squirtle, Ivysaur and the Ice Climbers as the real missing bits, with three of them almost certainly being no-hopers.

I sure said that!Wait up, that doesn't sound right. We have 1 DLC character, a second on the way, and 2, possibly 3 more to result from the ballot, but Ice Climbers was cut due to "hardware limitations"? What gives?
These fighters aren't two characters controlled at the same time, with up to eight of them for the Wii U version.
EDIT: One of Pichu's trophies flat-out says that he's a good fighter for when you're battling a player much worse at the game than you. So yes, it was intended, and I like joke characters as long as they're intentional.

De Romanīs, lingua Latina gloriosa non fuī.The Wii U could probably handle them just fine even in 8-player Smash, but only the New 3DS could likely handle them on the handheld version, considering how taxing the game is to the 3DS in general.
I sure said that!I wouldn't be sure that the Wii U version could handle them considering some 8 player Smash stages have features removed just to handle them all like Wii Fit Studio's mirror.
Whereas I feel reasonably certain that was to make the backgrounds more static and thus easier to read- Smash can get pretty hectic with four players, so it stands to reason eight might demand the stages not have much in the way of busy animation.
I sure said that!At least the Ice Climbers will probably be back in Smash Bros 5. Maybe.
Cortex should take a 12-step plan off a 10-step pierFrom what I understand it wasn't impossible to get the Ice Climbers working in the 3DS version, they just couldn't get them working in time and thus had to cut them. As such I consider them still on the table as DLC.
As for 8-Player Smash, apparently they did work just fine on the Wii U, so unless that statement was deliberate misdirection (8-Player Smash wasn't revealed) I think it can handle them.
I don't see Squirtle or Ivysaur returning in any capacity, and Snake's rather unlikely, but I bet Wolf is already in the works.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!
Honestly, I liked Pichu. He wasn't very good, but he wasn't supposed to be very good. That's kind of the point of a joke character.
