That's quite surprising, I gotta say. I can imagine they'll remain out of trouble as long as they don't do something stupid like try to recreate all Smash 4 characters in the mod.

That's why they aren't doing exactly that.

From what I remember, the Project M team made an agreement to make no characters in Smash 4 until it's entirely finished to avoid any "stealing customers" thing. Or it was copyright or something. This is why they aren't working on Ridley at all. They don't know. Anybody already made is exempt because they can't just "un-make" 'em.

I have a feeling that Nintendo thinks they're awesome people, but they already have a set policy, so they can't praise them due to that alone. Otherwise it would mean serious trouble law-wise for them. It means their policy is a lie and all. It's sad, but that's life.

People seriously need to stop calling the game "for" for short. It's confusing as hell and I'm always doing a double take wondering what the missing word is. I mean, when people say things like "both Brawl and for", that looks like someone screwed up their typing.

There's also the fact that this is the only place that does this.

It'd be fine if people just used "Four." But "For" is just confusing and nonsensical.

I'm just going to call them U and 3DS, possibly with Smash in front.

Why can't we just call it "Smash 4", "Smash U", and "Smash 3D"?

Why didn't they give the game a subtitle, anyway?

They do have subtitles. They're For Wii U and For 3DS.

While I find the idea of two versions interesting I hope they drop that for Smash 5. I'd rather they spend all their time designing one massive game instead of splitting their focus.

The game is officially called Super Smash Bros. For 3DS and Wii U.

For is a bad name if not combined with some other parts, but it's still correct in the long run. I like Smash 4 myself, but it's pretty much a nickname at best.

I just do what I think makes the most sense and call it "SSB 4". It appeals to my laziness.

You know that's not what I meant.

I meant a subtitle like "Melee" or "Brawl," not related to the console it's on.

Technically it's "For Nintendo 3DS" and "For Wii U". Though the simplest is probably to call them Smash 3DS/U.

I call the 64 version "Smash", the others Melee and Brawl, and then For for the 4th installment. I'll probably say For 3DS and For Wii U. I rarely use 4 myself, because I don't see it as necessary. And you know, official name and all.

nah, simplest is to just call it smash 4 unless you actually need to specify what console you're playing on. in most cases, i dont think that will be necessary.

hell, even in the case you need to specify what console, you'd probably be specifying in a place thats talking about smash in the first place, in which case all you really need to say in that case is "wiiu ver" or "3ds ver".

Smash 4's what I use. Short and easy.

After getting this, I'm gonna practice the hell out of the art of Mario.

Yes, he's the middle ground; the baseline of baselines. But I freaking love Mario, and he's always been mah boi in all of smash.

Although in Japan, Melee and Brawl were just called Smash Bros DX and Smash Bros X, so the names have always been pretty boring over there. It seems the localizers simply didn't bother coming up with a more clever name this time.

Confusing, possibly. But I wouldn't say it's all that nonsensical, given that it's just a Just For Pun form of saying "Four". Granted, when I say For in reference to the new games, I put it in italics like I do with all titles on this site.
