Sometimes I just talk to myself to hide the pain.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMAs for Cranky: I admit it's never said explicitly, but he does say he's been in earlier games, back in DKC.
I just think it's a fun theory to hold on to.
I have a message from another time...And I was referring to any character that we hypothetically may lose in order for the handheld version to exist, not just the Ice Climbers.
Well that bit you quoteblocked was referring to both that and another post I quoted, so it wasn't just yours I was reffring to there (which is is why I left it to the very end and separated it with an ellipses), so sorry about that.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyM@Zarek: I consider the Courses as their unique Universe. Like I said, either term works when referring to Symbols and it absolutely doesn't matter to me. Since it's the same thing to me. Yoshi is either from the Yoshi Franchise or Yoshi Universe. Difference? None whatsoever with SSB.
The courses do matter, since they're showing off the Universe they're from. The Franchise bit is just where they originated. But for Symbols? Also, just to note, the Smash Wiki has debated which term to use as well. They have gotten on consensus and are indeed using it to refer only to the Symbols.
But eh.
@MM: I've disagreed entirely with your points. I think every character is important, but I consider gameplay and having as much overall content as possible(having two versions means far more content, to say the least) somewhat more important than a character slot or two. So I'm leaning on two versions as more important. That's just how I view it, respectively. I really have no intention of changing my mind, so we don't need to continue. I get your point, I don't agree. Let's just please end it there.
Oh whoops. Well, my bad then...
On another note, and sorry if this was answered already, but was there supposed to be a Nintendo Direct soon or was that a rumor?

It was yesterday. No Smash news.
I have a message from another time...Ah. Disappointing, but whatever.
On a side note, regarding alternate "costumes" or whatever (i.e. Miss Fit's male persona), I just thought of another one for Toon Link: one based on the model Link has for A Link Between Worlds.
Well, they're both Child-like Links. Makes sense to me.
Their art styles are a bit too different for my tastes.
I have a message from another time...Also, in the official art, ALBW!Link looks a lot more like Regular Non-Small Smash Bros. Link than he does Toon Link.
"We're home, Chewie."I would like if one of the costumes Link had Pink hair like he did in Link to the Past.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureI popped over to the Smash Wiki, and until now, I'd never realized how ridiculously extensive and controversial Super Smash Bro's metagame is.
It's weird when you used to play the game with your friends after school. I'm used to hearing about Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat this way, but Smash Bros is different. The presence of Nintendo characters disarms you; you don't really expect to see people absorbing the game and fashioning rules for it, especially given the amount of options the games allow, as opposed to conventional fighters.

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Anything with extensive Pv P will begin to be considered Serious Business.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."Mindgames, at least, are central to about every game where it can be assumed that the players are good enough to have roughly equal skill. Hence the "meta" in metagame, because winning and losing are not about how you play the game (well, it still is, but it assumes an optimum competence level of the base game), but instead a big run of game theory and decision trees regarding how to play the game.
Yeah. A cute exterior can often hide a maddening level of player-made meta game depth.
Exhibit A: Pokemon.
I have a message from another time...Well, I was just saying that DK doesn't really count.
Yoshi isn't as separate from the Mario series as DK is. They have some of the same enemies, and Mario is still in it (as a baby). Also, Yoshi appears in the main Mario games too.
Yoshi's own series has distinct enough gameplay that I consider it seperate from the Mario games. Yes, I even consider Super Mario World 2 as the birth of a seperate series.
Although I don't feel Mario or his expanded universes need any new characters, Paper Mario being an exception.
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaMight it be bold to say that Smash Bros takes it up to an eleven, compared to things like Star Craft, Street Fighter, Soul Caliber, etc? The player-made strategies/tiers have developed a life of their own through the Wiki. But then again, Smash Bros was never big on storyline, so the metagame would have to pick up the slack.

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).There's a lot more complexity to what could be called basic strategy in Smash, since there's a platforming element and even the basic stages allow much more distance between the fighters. That's before getting into more than two players participating at once!
I sure said that!Time for another round of "Is it 'shopped?"◊
Jigg's tuft of hair seems in-line with the comment on today's Pic.
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaLook shopped to me. There's some odd pixelation around Jiggs.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I buy it as an incredible simulation, but I don't think it's legit.
I sure said that!Yeah, and I don't think Ness' face is lighted properly, still looks too Brawly.
Case closed, I guess.

Yeah, but...why call them universes? I mean, I really don't want to argue semantics (that happens enough in this thread), but I'm just wondering, why "universe?" It seems kind of inaccurate. Or at least imprecise. It has a longer-standing established meaning of "the place where all of this stuff took place" (in the fictional sense of "universe," I mean).
I'm not faulting you for using the terminology, I'm just trying to understand the logic behind it.
